We're nearing the end of Juan Manuel Marquez's career at the highest level and he still has yet to acquire a signature victory. There's no denying that his skill set rivals his Mexican rivals, but his best wins are over significantly faded opposition and a not so spectacular operator in Juan Diaz. The apologists are quick to point out how Marquez was ducked by the best for a decade, and how he was poorly managed, but he also has to take responsibility for his losses against the likes of Freddie Norwood and Chris John.

As evidenced by my recent poll, the majority concluded that he was an ATG and therefore it's appropriate he be mentioned in here I feel.

I still love me some Jack Johnson but yeah people have blurred the line between boxing significance and social significance. And he still was a great fighter, just not the untouchable entity some would make him out to be.
