who invented or created doing mitts ?

    I remember long ago hearing that it was good'ol manny steward, but hard to believe no one did mitts before that....crazy

    Trainers didn't even use their bare hands as mitts before manny steward?

    Manny Steward didn't invent it. He said that most fighter's back in the day didn't use mitts.

    Including Ray Robinson. It's just another tool.

    You don't necessarily need them as long as you got the double end bag, heavy bag, and smart sparring partners.

    Sometimes, you might be teaching your students bad habits and not even know it.

    Don't know who started that. We used them back as far as 1978. You could buy them at a boxing supply store.

    Old fighters didn't use 'mitts'. First two times I saw it was Goody Petronelli with Marvin Hagler but he wasn't using 'mitts' he was using a pair of 22 oz gloves put on backwards for Marvin to hit.

    The other was Victor Valle using 2 actual baseball catchers mitts with Gerry Cooney.

    This whole 'mitt' obsession didn't exist.
