Its natural to raise the shouler in defence, its just not natural to leave an arm down at the same time.

Floyd couldn't even make the 144lb catchweight for the Marquez fight whereas Juan had to gain about 20lbs.

Mayweather is bigger in every stat.

To say that they're the same size or that win was worth anything is ***** bull****.

It's been around forever, and actually used to be common for old timers.

I dont think Locche or TOney were better than Floyd using the shoulder roll, maybe Pernell deserves to be compared but he used to slide or slip more than rolling.

    20 pounds...
So Mayweather vs Marquez was unfair because Marquez was too small, right ? So Mayweather vs Pacquiao will be unfair because Pacquiao is the same size as Marquez :nut

Pacquiao is one in a million.

Or do you SERIOUSLY think everybody can step up in weight as well as him? Is that your REAL argument, *****? Or is he a unique talent that is recognised for his ability to take on much bigger men and beat them?

You kind of morons are giving me an ulcer.

    floyd uses a shoulder roll

    BUT

he uses an augmented half guard (the low left, covering the body)

the square, front on high guard is actually the modern defence and stance. it allows you to rattle off combinations and allows you to get more snap in your jab, but really defencivly it's pretty much take a shot on the gloves or move bacl. you can slip and counter of course but your changing your weight and puts alot of your balance on your front foot.

it sort of took over in the post war to the 60's.

Even Bruce Lee used it. It's to present angles to the opponent. When you square up you present the biggest possible target but you turn at an angle you present the smallest possible target.

It's not just the angle that makes me say that, its more to do with the look on his face.

His mouth is always slightly open, his eyebrows are raised and his eyes are bulging. He looks absolutely terrified. It's hilarious.

Watch Bruce Lee. Any good fighter makes use of angles, they just never called the move the shoulder roll.
