Lemieux is now 25 and looked impressive against Guerrerro who was considered like a serious prospect not too long ago. Lemieux will blossom in the next year.

David will keep ripping through Quillin's former opponents until Kid Undercard gets the memo. David will be having Chocolate fondue.

I like that this thread was made.

Look how many people didnt even list Golovkin as the number 1 middleweight.

And yet people want him to move up? lol.... the guy hasnt even established himself as number one in his weight and you have a group of people on his case saying hes ducking so and so because hes not moving up in weight

To be honest its hard for me to put them in any sort of order right now.... outside of Golovkin is clearly the number 1.

Cotto, Quillan, Murray, Macklin, DL, Stevens, Rubio, Geale

hard for me to really put them in a solid order.

    "DL" :D

    http://www.rds.ca/1.1154813

...says here that Quillin & DL were talking in the Spring to stage a fight in the Fall, but that Quillin withdrew from negotiations after DL destroyed Guerrero.

DL made Quillin keep that **** on the DL. :hey

But man I hope thats not true. DL vs Quillan would be a great matchup.... and if the link is true then Quillan is quickly becoming the divisions biggest ducker.

Maravilla was shot to **** no doubt about it, Bradley would of beaten him that night. GGGs stoppage of a solid, world class fighter in his prime like Geale was more impressive. Geale got robbed vs Barker and beat Sturm he'd give Quillin or Cotto a run for their money. Ggg squashed him like grape. Ggg is Margarito 2.0 Cotto needs a miracle to beat him.

Middleweight is about to heat up though I think (hope)

Youve got Stevens coming back up, and if he wins his next, one of the top guys will have to face

You have DL coming up, who one of the top guys will have to face

Quillan vs Jacobs is logically next, which I like

Then throw in Murray and Macklin, theres some good fights to be made throughout.

The only one that puts a damper on it is I doubt Cotto is planning on doing **** at 160. Wish he would just drop the belt and move back down if hes not going to fight a legit middle.

Anyways, I look forward to what 2015 has in store for middleweight.

    Stevens
    Macklin
    Jacobs
    Murray
    Quillan
    DL
    Geale

Anyway you match these guys for the most part its a pretty damn good fight, imo. I look forward to 2015.

But if anything can dissapoint, its boxing.... wont suprise me if nobody fights eachother  :-(

Yep, all we can do is hope. :yep

I hope Soliman gently sends JT into retirement so Soliman can have somewhat of a name in the US - then after Stevens left hooks N'Dam into next week, Soliman-Stevens happens and the winner gets to unify with Golovkin.

    Exactly how I feel.
It is really hard to seperate out the members of the chasing pack.
So few of them "stand out" and those that do, while they might stand out in 1 or 2 areas - are lacking in other areas!

For example Lemieux has lethal power, but serious flaws.
Quillin is big, hits hard too, but is a crummy boxer.
Martin Murray is huge at the weight, but is one-paced, plodding and lacks power and has a weak engine.

They are ALL far too inactive. Most only fight once or twice a year. :-(

Shame Macklin is so inactive as I feel he has been unlucky in losing his big breakthrough fights against, unfortunately, too-good opponents:
(Sturm - who I think he beat), Sergio, GGG.

He might, just might surprise someone yet but time is running out for him. Had he got his title shots against weaker recent "champions" - the likes of Barker, Zbik, Sylvester, Geale etc things might have been different for him.
Instead he got GGG and Sergio and Sturm in Germany. A pity really.

Middleweight is a weak division and has been for a couple years now.

Maybe the depth among the top 20 is decent or even above average, but the top 5 or so of the division is awfully weak.

Maybe Harold Lederman should stop watching boxing as well as the official judges, he gave it to Martinez as well, just because someone doesn't do as well as you think they should, it doesn't automatically make the other guy the winner.
Murray did almost nothing the first 5 rounds and solidly lost the last 2.
