Pac Cotto out did Floyd Marquez as a fight and did better numbers.

    Plus Pac has a title.

What is Floyd's position to negotiate? No reputable boxing site has him as number 1 p4p either.

yea because this fight is all about that paper title, right? the one that Cotto won by beating the mighty Michael Jennings. Big time belt on the line here.

You're not very smart are you?

Before I saw the numbers for the Pac-Cotto fight I had my doubts... but now I can say it's definitely Floyd.

Floyd and JMM did 1.05 mil. PPV buys... Pac and COTTO, a much more marketable opponent, can only rake up 1.25 mil. buys... Cotto can pull in decent numbers with a Margarito or an elite opponent, Marquez HAS NEVER been a PPV attraction.

Had Pac pulled in more than 1.5, I might have said Pacquiao is the bigger draw, but as it stands, and looking at numbers with common opponents, it's gotta be Mayweather.

after May drew that #, i did think for a minute that Pac-Cotto was going to hit around 1.5 million. Now 1.25 million is impressive for any fight, but man nobody thought Floyd could pull one million for Marquez. Estimates were between 500k-800k on the very high end. He shocked everyone and really proved his name value.

How is Floyd vs JMM more impressive than Cotto vs PAC which did more PPV buys? I mean.....they are fighting two top guys with their own built in fan bases in the same economic time.

JMM has a larger fan base due to the mexican and mexican american fan base in the US that boxing has. Ricans have a very strong fan base as well...but the promo to JMM vs Floyd had EXTRA time to build up and fell on the Mexican independance day weekend when pushed back.

The numbers were very impressive without question! But it is what it is. Cotto vs PAC did better on the same playing field as Floyd vs JMM. But at the end of the day you are absolutely right. These are all opinions and no one will ever be "right" if both have a firm stance.

Both are cash cows and deserve to get an even split in my opinion.....I just hope the promoters see it that way as well.

No thread is required, all you will get from this thread is fanboys picking this and that. Their PPV numbers are out there to check, google is your friend.

Despite Mayweather OBVIOUSLY being the bigger draw as proven with numbers available to see I think both deserve 50/50. If anyone deserves more then it's Pacquiao for making history in his recent fights, sadly the business side doesn't give a damn.
