Only 14 million homes in the UK have a platform to watch PPV boxing. Most bars with a TV stream the fights as well on fight-nights over here, I'd say like 90% of the pubs here stream big fights. Illegal streaming effects UK sales too.
As for the prices, well if Americans are willing to pay that much(1 million did for Canelo vs Jr) than unfortunately for other boxing fans those prices will stay at a premium rate. If Sky/Hearn tried to flog boxing for 50 pounds a fight sales would plummet and illegal streaming would be a bigger issue.

If AJ vs Wlad was on free TV in the UK nearly 1/3 of our population would watch it. That's 20 million +

As for your last argument, if Canelo wanted to make more money he could fight in Europe as well. I'm not sure why you think every sports person needs to @break@ america in order to get rich and famous. AJ is beating Canelo in this poll in only his 19 pro bout & he's not even been to america yet.

Who made more money in their last fight? I'm assuming Canelo but never saw firm figures.

If AJ keeps winning he'll definitely become more popular (especially if Canelo loses against ggg). But right now I'd give the slight overall edge to Canelo, with the regional differences most have noted

Having considered the question a bit further, I'd say the correct answer is that Joshua is slightly more well-known but Canelo brings in more money as the US ppv market is still most lucrative in the world (higher ppv prices).

I think Kiwi just hit the nail on the head. How do you judge somebody's stardom? From money generated or the amount of people who watched it?
I'll go with how many people who watched it myself.

I feel canelo is still the biggest wwd, atm. Aj is certainly gaining but it'll take couple to few more fights to wake over the world wide king

Joshua is a talent HW from the UK he has a chance to be a huge star, he seems to already got the UK covered obviously think he needs to fight in the US to be a global star MSG, MGM Grand, California etc

    Joshua is the bigger star.

I'm not British, but soccer is by far the biggest sport on the planet, with the most famous athletes. Easily bigger than American football and baseball combined.

Stardom is how much your name (Brand) generates. The more people know youre name the more money it generates.

Canelo gets my vote as he's the biggest draw in boxing (not counting Floyd).

It's only a matter of time until AJ overtakes him as he's a heavyweight who speaks English.

Thank you for spending the time to show me that.

Glad boxing is doing better than it has for years, all over the world.

    Agree.

Anyone see the Canelo vs Khan score cards, before the KO. Robbery.
