No its not incorrect. If you want to be a household name in boxing you have to be big here in the states.

Obviously in UK/Europe Joshua is far more well known while in Americas Canelo is the bigger star.

But who's bigger world wide? I'd say Joshua. The Olympics gave Joshua a global platform that Canelo never had. The Olympics is a weird event where people all over the world watch sports they never normally would do, exposing Joshua to people outside of the boxing hardcore on a global scale.

Also when I was in Hong Kong earlier this year I saw adverts there with Joshua, saw pictures of him in sports shops in the malls, didn't see one image of Canelo the whole time I was there.

Also a google search of both boxers has Canelo with 16.7 mill hits, while Joshua has 69.7 mill hits.

The is bigger than the states, or south America. Heavyweight is still the king division.

I agree completely, I think the claimed figures are bollox. Thats why I put them as "claimed" figures and didnt use those figures in the observation. The other figures are bang on though and verified through multiple sources.

Live gate was £6.5M officially with TV (PPV & overseas) coming in at £13.5M officialy

Canelo is bigger in North America, and in South America. Two continents.

Is the concatenation of the UK and Europe just lazy or is there any basis? Joshua is huge in the UK, more than a sportsman, and Canelo is a name familiar only to the tiny number of boxing lovers. But, do the French, Germans, Polish, Italians etc really care for him at all? For instance, I suspect the French are vaguely aware of Joshua but are following Tony Yoka's transition to the Pros with more interest. Joshua has the potential to beome a World-wide star, solely due to being a HW, but I reckon he is only a "celebrity" in the UK.

That sounds more credible, which gives Canelo a higher purse either Klitschko or Joshua.

Canelo is bigger and more established right now but Joshua being a young HW champion has the potential to be a bigger star in time.

No it puts Canelo's purse at exactly the same as Joshua or Wlad, £15 Mil / $19.5 Mil. Canelo's purse came from a smaller pot but he got a much bigger percentage of his pot than Chavez. The actual official total purses were bigger for Joshua / Wlad than Canelo / Chavez.

Not sure I rate Parker as massive. After watching him last week I don't even rate him as high as Lucas Browne but he has a strap so it can be hyped. Fury is just a maybe fight. Wilder could be hyped but he's surely an easy fight. Ortiz and Povetkin to me are bigger threats than Wilder.

You can't expect Canelo to win any polls on here. He's one of the most hated on the forum and after September the hate will be through the roof.. Most boxing fans here in the states still don't even know who Anthony Joshua is... That should tell you something.

Also most of the people voting in that poll for Joshua, are from the UK..LOL
