Going by your logic, it's neither Canelo nor Joshua who's the biggest star. That title belongs to Manny Pacquiao, who's still an active fighter.

Going by your logic as well, there's no country in America (the continent) who would think Joshua is a bigger name than Canelo. Whoever said that doesn't live in America, I'm Hispanic and many casuals know who Canelo is but don't know who Anthony Joshua is, However, they do know who Klistchko is.

The same can be said about Joshua, he wouldn't be able to sell out the Cowboy stadium.

Canelo overall I think currently but the trajectory is all AJ. Heavyweight will always be king with casuals an AJ has only just begun at the top level. Canelo is going into a fight he very well may get busted up and stopped in. Ask again after each have had another fight.

Joshua is bigger in Europe, Canelo in North America... However Joshua is bigger in England than Canelo is in America.

I mentioned Americas, which is the combined NA and SA. That's 1 billion people. I said Americas would know who Canelo is. Outside of Americas Joshua is more popular after his last fight. As for Manny, if he fought a credible opponent like Khan for example, that would make more than either Wlad Joshua or Canelo GGG/ JR
Manny is the biggest draw in boxing still, this thread is about Canelo vs Joshua. Outside of Americas Joshua is more popular.

Latin America makes up quite a large percent of PPV buys, as does Europe when Froch vs Groves sold a million PPV's as well. Canelo is a major star in Americas, Joshua is a major star all over the world. That's undeniable now.

Vs an American opponent? No, he'll sell it out quite easily with over 30k UK followers turning up just as the Hatton Army did. Joshua HAS that kind of backing now in the UK.

You got to understand too, this is about branding. Joshua is without a doubt a sport giants dream ticket. He'll be earning millions from endorsement deals just as Naz did. That branding will make him a global superstar who is known even by the casuals.

I'll just prove how irrelevant Canelo is outside of Americas. HBO did that face off recently with JR. I wanted to watch it but they never even put English subtitles to sell the fight!

    And Canelo isn't?
Canelos been on top longer that Joshua and if he wins in September, the sky's the limit.

Lets say he beats GGG, who does he face next to generate PPV buys?

advantage Joshua has is that he's a HW. that mightn't seem to be a big deal on it's own, but remember that until Oscar de la hoya changed the boxing landscape, cash cows were exclusively HW fighters.
there hasn't been a fighter at HW like Joshua (who is a promoter's wet dream) for quite some time

The first live fight in my country in years... Joshua vs Wlad.
Joshua is a heavyweight. The kind of boxer people remember and look up against.

Joshua is obviously more marketable, does Canelo even speak English?

PS UK PPV is $24.00, not $19.99, and compared to the size of America 1 million PPV's is still small.

Canelo has several options, Charlo brothers, GGG rematch, Jacobs and Cotto rematch.

The HW division doesn't have much depth.

Please remind me who was the last HW cash cow and where were they from?
