Khan Canelo (although I admit that he's become a much better boxer) Broner (was rooting for him but he's just become annoying...)
I think it's the drunk driving. It brings up question of where do you draw the line and what should be done about boxers who cross it? Boxing is supposed to be a place to go when you're troubled, to learn self control and to channel violent impulses. At the same time it seems wrong for people who have been convicted of domestic violence to win fame and fortune while more virtuous but slightly less skilled boxers languish. Where do you cut someone off? Personally, I'd like to see those who do some of this bad stuff to not just be let back in or expelled forever, but to publicly go through a process of restitution and redemption going well beyond what the legal system requires. If you're famous, there should be more responsibility that comes with that.
Lost respect for Haney bragging publicly about how he beat Floyd and Davis in sparring. No respect for teofimo the way he dances after koing opponents. Any boxer that kod Roy Jones and celebrated, except tarver and Johnson.
Margarito - he went from being in my top 3 favourites to not even getting a mention as anything other than an iron chinned guy
I used to respect Wlad a lot for his incredible achievements in boxing. Not just being great. Not just being the best. But being the best so consistently. Over 10 years at the top without an "off night." Quite a level of discipline. Unbelievable perhaps. I still respect that -- and considerably so -- but it's been hampered by the realization he's an insecure and childish moron pretending to be some refined, intellectual, polymath. Kind of sad.
Pretty much anyone who fails a drug test... I can still look back and appreciate some of these fighters skills but at same time it does make me think... pffft...****
even though i don't agree with the DD, i'm also from an era where every time a person put a foot wrong it wasn't on the news. making mistakes is a part of life, and it's actually the time people learn the best.
