If he has this major pull on HBO, I think HBO needs to reassess their priorities as soon as possible. They have had major blunders with their anointed Haymon guys. Was Taylor as good as they built him up to be? Is Berto worthy of their over-the-top efforts? Given how Floyd has been so selective of his opponents the last five years or so, and so difficult at the negotiation table, is Floyd their Frankenstein monster?

He manages Taylor, and yes, that could have explained Taylor's hyping (and first win over Hopkins).

Who is the guy right behind Taylor's left ear? Black guy who usually has one of his sons in the ring with him!

He's a manager who has sort of replaced Shelly Finkel as the defacto ******* when you discuss managers.

I don't know if he has pictures of Ross Greenberg shoving a cat up his ass but he has some insane stroke.

nope....should've stayed with arum....he might of had a loss or two by now, but the respect he would've had would've been insane......arum knows how to build them, GBP hasn't done **** for anybody.....if anything, they've hurt careers

    Ha ha ha
Well, Shelly musta been slipping lately. No way a de facto ******* would have been eased out of a boxer's camp with an upside like Pacquiao's during the Pacquiao-Morales fights.

In any case, even a fellow lowlifer Murad Muhammad was booted out from Pac's camp though not without the help of a court case, and of course the de facto ******* himself, Shelly Finkel. :rofl

    I totally agree with you.

Golden Boy seems to have the new-kid-in-town mentality even at this point, so eager to prove themselves but not really taking the time to do it the old school way like a Bob Arum does. You know, develop a fighter from the ground up, not rush him too much but not protect him to the point of hindering his development either.

It's like Oscar and Richard come up with a catchphrase for the month, and they all fall over themselves concocting ways to implement the "bright" half-baked idea, and then scratch their heads, and eggs, when the inevitable happens: it all explodes in their stupid-looking faces. Look at the way they handled Victor Ortiz. The catchphrase was "The Next Golden Boy" :yep. I suppose nowadays it's "Floyd is our master". :rofl

They also don't handle their fighters' careers particularly well. Mosley for one, Barrera for another. Foreign guys like Boom-Boom Bautista, they rushed and when they couldn't rise to the occasion, they cashed the check and dropped them.

Golden Boy and Al Haymon is a perfect partnership to quicken boxing's demise. :nut And with HBO a willing idiot, they're pretty much set up to succeed. :bart

Is that Shelly Finkel's reputation? I met him at the Martirosyan-Ouma fight, seemed like a good guy. I chewed his ear off for a lot of the night and he was pleasant the whole time.
