Well.....if you always think at surface level you'd only have spotty success in your predictions. Who was Manny Pacquioa before he beat MAB?

Who was Kelly Pav before he beat Taylor...ect.ect..ect.

Margo is a Top Welter and a dangerous one at that. He is a fighter that gives his all in a fight. Styles make fights, and he's got a style and abilities that would make for a great fight against Cotto. Not only that for the resurrection of the rivalry, he aint no chump Mexican like Gomez.

Any top Welter Champ can't take Margo lightly, Cotto should win it but he better not go into the fight with an attitude like " Who is Margarito?"

A belt that Boldamir got from a shot Gatti. It was an easy fight compared to the Margo fight. More reward less risk against Boldamir but no respect.

What am I talking about?? Figure it out.

By that logic of yours there:
Taylor beat Hopkins, who beat Johnson, who beat Roy, who beat Ruiz, who beat Evander, who beat Tyson, who beat Berbick, who beat Ali.

    But who is Ali?

still even as hard core fans what do we know of margarito... he hasnt accomplished a damn thing.. and he doesnt have more than 1 signifigant victory on his resume...

how far can we gauge margarito if he hasnt done ****.... he has NOTHING to speak for...... i mean your right i know margarito as hard core fan but just the other day i was thinking about how i could gauge margarito's skills to measure him up against cotto..and i cant... nobody i know besides clottey is any good really.... and he lost to pw... so what can i do to know about margarito

and yeah the objective is to fight the toughest competition
but on the other hand you want to make money and not waste time.. if floyd beat marg when that fight was on the table he just beat up an over hyped opponent who later no one would care about.... really the same with cotto if he faced him when the fight was oringinally on the table

right and that surface level is the level that the casual sports fan thinks at
    WBC welterweight title ~
    ~ IBO welterweight title ~
~ International Boxing Association welterweight title ~

all were on the line... margo just had the wbo belt

Ring Magazine are just another form of opinion they are no different than The WBC IBF WBO or the WBA, the difference with the ring belt and those belts is that Ring does not enforce you to fight any mandotories, basicly I call it the Cherry Pickers belt, and Floyds resent string of fights back up and support that theory

True.....but his career has had its ups and downs. For whatever reason he hasn't gotten the "Big fight" that seemed to be just out of reach for a LONG time. He's been fighting a lot of guys that are very good but none of the top guys really wanted to try the waters with a guy as tough and as solid as Marg. Not to say Marg couldn't beat or be competitive agianst the "ELITES" of his division, but he could.

It's just with all the politics invovled behind doors in boxing sometimes good fighters never get their much deserved opportunities. Cott will be in for a very tough fight this Saturday night. I think many will be loosing their money since most are betting on Cotto.

Exactly, How do you expect the man to be able to get anywhere when you have the very best avoiding him? I mean he has had to settle with what has been put in front of him, its not his fault and that is where alot of you got it wrong.

Let's cut some of the bull around here for everybody's sanity. Antonio Margarito was undefeated for 8 years when he lost a highly disputed and controversial decision against whom he had a no-contest decision in Daniel Santos and stepping up in weight class. This means no man trains for eight or nine years to fight WW Championships without being a top dog in the division. Margo has been pretty succesful and hard to beat too... Mosley, Floyd, Williams, Cotto, they all have different styles and maybe more attractive boxing skills ( superior class???) but all of them would have to dig deep to beat Margo which simply means that Margo belongs up there with them, at least and as long as he's not humiliated/exposed/beaten soundly...My guess is that there's nothing much between Cotto and Margo and who wants it the most should be able to prove himself superior. Of course and if it goes the distance, there's no chance Margo wins it.

Margarito is a guy making some money and showing some balls by taking on Miguel Cotto.
