Come on huddy you know better then that..Boxrec is an excellent resource but it aint the gospel..a lot, if not most of the records on their are incomplete..I have that fight on tape but its missing the introductions..Someone (maybe on here) told me Rojas proper record, I cant recall it..but it wasnt 3-4.
Of his 8 opponants on boxrec..5 were either current champs, former champs, titles contenders or I think in one case a future champ..Hardly seems the usual opponants for a man with only 8 fights to his name. Obviously not is all what it seems...and it wasnt as though it was fought in some shed in Panama..that fight was in the U.S with Foreman as the main supporting.

Duran's resume was not weak in the slightest...DeJesus, Lampkin, Viriuet(both of them), Thompson, Buchanan, Ishimatsu, Takayama and Bizzaro..Guys like Mamby,Kobayashi, Marcel and Villa in his non-title bouts.

So what if he fought at 140 sometimes in the interim..thats what they did in those days..the guy was fighting 7 or 8 times a year. Fact is he never fought near the welter limit until he was a 27 year old man.

Mate the bloke beat a prime Leonard, about as big a win as there has ever been...Came bloody close to knocking off Hagler and Benitez..Holds wins outside of his best weight over guys like Barkely, Palomino and Cuevas to name a few...Doesnt get much better then that.

    Your a hard man huddy.

Boxrec isnt the source of my knowledge its called Books and they still make them...No I have a host of boxing alamanics and boxing facts and record books. However I love the way that people throw that Boxingrec isnt complete in there when they cant defend some crappy fight that guys like duran had. Duran is over rated and its really starting to show seeing how he is sliding downwards on many ATG lists. I remember a time when you would se duran in all top threes, now however its rare to find him in top fives...

PS many of the fighters that you listed werent very good and you just listed them for having decent records Takayama wasnt good, never won a title and never even beat a ranked fighter.Lampkin is another one that wasnt good but shows a decent record so you listed him...Once again he was never a world champion. I think that i have done enough to show that you merely went thought his list of fights and listed many that had decent records without knowing much about those fighters most of the guys you listed were crappy fighters or fringe contenders at best..

Bottomline is if people actaully checked out Durans career as I have and werent merely sheep following what people say and not understanding just who the **** he was fighting you would say that Duran is a top three ATG, but once you know I mean REALLY know you would come to the the fact that Duran didnt really beat many good fighters, and he clearly lost to the best fighters that he faced. Yeah he beat Leonard but I think the second fight showed that it was a combination of Ray youth and him want to prove that he could beat Duran at his game...Duran was the master of excuses.
