No argument can be made for Leonard winning the fight from an unbiased viewer, that would mean Duran won convincingly. :good
Funny because it was pretty split as to who won the fight at the time. Funny haw time seems to change what really happened. Funny thing is Duran didnt even think that he won the fight convicingly, as stated in an intereveiw were he stated that "It was my night and i should have beat him easy with question" What does that tell you???? Not even duran thought that he won the fight convicingly.
Duran beat leonard convincingly the first time, over his best weight of 135, later moved on to capture the light middleweight and middleweight crowns, damnit i hate it when people down play duran
Never said it was one-sided, I consider it to be the best fight I've ever seen. I said no argument exists for Leonard winning the fight. If you want to watch the fight and tell me which 8 rounds you feel Leonard could have won, be my guest. It was close, yeah. But despite how close it was, if the decision went Leonard's way it would have been a robbery.
No one is saying that Duran isnt an ATG, he is, he just isnt in the top 5 or 6....The problem I have with Duran is that no matter what you say or how you cut it he lost to the best fighters that he faced, its really that simple...The only reason that he was able to win the first fight with Ray is because Leonard wanted to prove that he could out bang Duran, EVERYONE knows that, and in the rematch Duran was on his way to being outclassed and he quit, he knew that he wasnt going to win. Then after what many said was Duran best win over Davey Moore Leonard distroyed Duran, its pretty clear that Leonard was a better fighter then Duran, beat the better fighters and had a better resume...How anyone could rate Duran over Ray has always puzzled me. Its not like he was beatting guys like Benny Leonard and Pernell Whitaker at lightweight which are the level of fighters that Ray was beatting....
