Mares, Khan and Alvarez. I loved watching Mares against perez and cant wait for the vic fight. Khan is someone I've never liked as a person but he is developing as a fighter all the time and is in a weight class where the big fights will come. Alvarez looks like being the next big mexican prospect who fights in a way that will create great exciting fights
Yeah, there are a bunch of guys who have the skills, but don't have the personalities or styles to become stars. Guys like Dawson, Ward, Bradley, etc. Haye is too inactive. Khan is taking steps in a backwards direction if his main goal is popularity. If you asked this question a year ago, I guarantee you like 10 people would have said Edwin Valero, so things can change quickly I suppose.
I agree with Khan and Haye...if they come out on top of their respective divisions (although Khan has a lot more to do than Haye to become a "superstar"...Haye just has to beat both, or even one Klitschko). Not sure Ward will ever be classed as a "superstar"...I think he definitely has the potential to reach and stay at the top for a long time, but a worldwide "superstar"? Not so sure.
good call on gamboa, if arum will ever match him w/ lopez. I think sky is the limit w/ gamboa. Alotta power at that weight.
Basically, I think you have to have at least p4p 3 potential or be like Hatton. Berto's not good enough and will never be IMO. Even though Bradley is better and has p4p top 10 potential, the same goes for him. Dawson's not that exciting and... well, it remains to be seen but to be a superstar, in most cases (except Hatton) you need be be A+ level. Dawson might get there if he were to remain dominant but he hasn't showed me that kind of quality yet. But then only in the States. Hardly anybody knows who he is globally and it will be hard to change that. Ward is a shout. He's more talented than Dawson. Come out of the Super Six unbeaten, show the quality for another five-six years that - despite his "boringness" (to some, the mainstream at least) - makes it impossible not to recognize him across the pond too. He has a long way to go though. It will be hard for Haye unless he beats the Klitschkos. If he does, the fact that he's out-spoken, entertaining and, above all, a heavyweight will make him globally known. Khan's a possibility, he certainly has the backing and the skills. Develop his power to get exciting is a must, as well as a functionable chin. Doubtful about him. Gamboa has the style and the talent. Normally I would worry about him bering at such a low weight but he's so exciting and will make himself a true name if he beats Lopez. He can be p4p #1 if his chin holds up, without doubt. He needs to step up SOON, though. Wlad - as long-reigning heavyweight champ - would take over the title by default, but he's not a true superstar. Beating Haye would propel him even further. I don't think we will se anybody like Pac and Floyd for a time unless an exciting heavyweight champion shows up.
It will probably be somone that's not as accomplished and well-known yet. Alvarex and Frankie Gavin looks exciting, promising and has huge backings behind them. Perhaps one of the Russian guys? Golovkin? He is exciting and certainly promising. It's too early to determine if any of them has the quality needed at the highest level though. Speculating like this when they have so much left to do is pure guesswork.
Amir KING Khan. Others: Saul Alvarez - I guarantee he will be the next major thing due to his own background support. I was impressed by him aswell. Devon Alexander - In question now. I don't think he has a very good Boxing brain or defence at all.
Please. Alexander will mop the floor with "Khant". :hat Khant is quickly becoming the most overrated fighter right now. :deal
