He kinda fights like Sergio Martinez. Hands down by the waist. He is also a small SMW. The guy has fought twice in 2 years. He will look like a midget in with Ward. If Ward cant stop this guys forget about the P4P nonsense. Untill Ward beats Kovalev no P4P.:nono
How will that fight prepare him for Kovalev? Chilemba was a good preparation for Ward.................
It is probably just an easy fight to get his sharpness back. Ward hasn't looked completely his old self in his last two fights. I have never seen this Brand fight, but if he is like Doc described, then he might not be a bad opponent. Ward is going to have to be at his sharpest and most elusive when he fights Kovalev. Fighting a tricky fighter will test his reflexes, sharpness and timing more than a relatively stationary Barrera and Smith will.
Never heard of the guy, but he only has one loss, and it was an SD decision against Jack so he can't be that awful. That being said, I would crucify Ward if he was not fighting Kovalev after, this is purely for ring rust. Who would prepare Kovalev for Ward? Beterbiev who could possibly beat him?
He's actually a potential stumbling block for Ward, who may end up looking a lot worse off after his match with Brand than Kovalev looked with Chilemba, who most intelligent fans expected to be a handful for the Krusher. Brand is awkward as hell, he's like an awkward hybrid of Sakio Bika and Sergio Martinez, who he was a sparing partner for. By all rights he should have one of the better wins at Super Featherweight under his belt, he beat Badou Jabck in my opinion and the opinion of one of the official judges. He recently beat big ass Dagestani LHW Medzhid Bektemirov after being dropped in the first, he proceeded to school him for the rest of the match.
Honestly when Brand was announced I thought it was a bad tuneup, but after watching a few Brand fights I changed my mind. Honestly he's a pretty good fighter if he hasn't suddenly lost it due to age. It's a decent tuneup for Ward-Kovalev.
a large female comedian who is actually quite funny. or some hairy homeless english guy who thinks its highly amusing to imitate Pirates of the Caribbean Captain Jack Sparrow 24/7 for 11 years nonstop.
