I disagree with this part mate, as boxing fans we should be able to see where a fighter fought on too long and not let it affect our opinion of his career.

If a fighter loses a few fights at the end of his career when he clearly shouldn't be stepping in the ring any more then its neither here nor there when looking back and assessing is career IMHO.

My knowledge of pre war fighters is fairly poor so I cant talk about them with any authority. So I wont.

Post war I think the most talented fighter we ever produced was Conteh by some distance. Just a huge under achiever!:-(

Lewis is the clear choice then. He may not have fought an atg in their prime but his record is still full of good worldclass names. Despite what Axl_Nose says Lewis fought in a fairly tough era and was clearly the class fighter of that period. Also I love that americas top fighter ran like a coward rather than face him!:D
After that you have to say Buchanan.

If we're classing both Fitz and Lennox as British, then there's my top two in that order with Wilde and Ted Lewis propping them up. Shout out to Calzaghe, Buchanen, Berg, Lynch and Welsh who are all a level below the top four for me but pretty interchangeable in a seperate bracket.

The opposite. Hamed was far too quick and had far too many tricks up his sleeve. Harrison was a basic fighter, his best attributes were his strength and toughness. Hamed would have boxed the ass off him even if he didn't get the KO on this occasion.

Joe Calzaghe - I only deal with the televised era because otherwise its just someone elses written opinion.

Amen. I've allways said Hamed was massively underated, mostly on account of his repugnant personality. People can't seem to be objective when it comes to him. Little **** that he was!

Good call for Conteh in the 'most talented' category.

Not knowing a great deal about the pre-war era I'd go for Lennox Lewis as the only British fighter to dominate a division for so long. Maybe it'll take the perspective of a few years to tell us how good he really was.
