I see a lot of talk about technique and fundamentals and over years have always compared our prospects technique/skills to the American's/Latin fighters.

We seem to generally agree that technique has regressed not only here but across the world but who is the most technically good/correct fighter around in Britain today?!.

I must admit for all his haters i like Brook's compact style of punching he's flawed defensively, Ricky Burns a very orthodox pure boxer does the fundamental things well.

I'm looking at all round technique from punches, footwork, defence.

May not even be one of the bigger name British fighters..

I reckon Darren Barker is quite technially sound. Lateral movement wise, he's pretty lacking though.

Barker is solid in the traditional European style. Gavin is very adept, but a little unorthodox with his Whitakerisms. I suspect he can fight textbook-style if he chooses, but likes the freedom he gets with his own style.

Bryan Rose was very technically impressive against Prince Aaron - high, tight guard with excellent straight punching to offset his opponent's reach.

Darren Barker is a great shout for this thread.

I love the way Mitchell puts his shots together, but his defence is quiet poor.

Barker is very loose and when he flow is lovely to watch, i wish he had a dig really do. Such a class act and to think his brother was supposedly better.

Technically Tony Bellew is very sound , sometimes being the most technical doesnt make you the most effective , but i do like to watch Bellew to break down how correct everything looks

I was just coming back to this thread to mention him! His boxing skills seriously impressed me for the first 6 rounds of the Cleverly fight

Shocked a lot of his haters who predicted Cleverly to batter him and out box him. Bellew showed better boxing skills that night IMO.

Being from Liverpool im a long time fan of his and knew he had that performance in his locker , he's a very good technician , with good power

Thats mainly because of the way Tony has looked over the past 12 months pre Cleverly , but people who knew how good he is , were not shocked to see him perform like that on the night :good

100% agree. If Tony didnt tire by the 8th, he would have won that (he won it anyway on my scorecard. I think i had him 4-1 up after the first 5 rounds by sticking behind the jab.)

    :good

I agree with Slip when he says Tony's shoulders tired and let Clev in a bit, i must go back and re-score that fight. IIRC i had a draw or edged towards Bellew.

Only think i'd like Tony to do is straighten the right hand a little more.
