Who is Britain's Most Technically Correct/Good Fighter

  1. I'd run with Bellew here too, when he can be bothered boxing as opposed to taking the opponent's head off (or trying to) with every punch.

He stood Cleverly on his head for most of the fight, with an extra 15lbs of muscle on those pins he'd not gas out late in fights.

Gavin needs to sit down on his shots more, in the fight against Mutley it seemed like he was giving him a facial with the jab, absolutely nothing on it at all. In terms of defence and footwork he's right up there, but he needs a dangerous opponent to motivate him.

''Never been stopped'' guys don't. :zzz

Darren Barker is a terrible choice.

Gavin is decent but like an earlier poster said he loves some freedom to immitate Whitaker.

Tony Bellew has to be the most technically sound fighter when he is sharp. When he gets tired or macho he loses it. When he is calm, patient and pacing himself his feet are well positioned, his hands are up, he turns the jab out, puts a nice right hand behind it, turns the hook over for maximum effect and is good with the parry and blocking. Bellews technical ability makes up for the fact he isn't particularly fast or agile.

Close behind Bellew probably has to be Frampton who technically is looking quite classy but once he steps up from human punch bag we'll find out if he is really that good.

Get a fighter in the gym and alot of them look fine, get them in the ring and they are all over the place. Not enough fighters have drilled the fundamentals into their system enough.

As much as i like most of the fighters mentioned and enjoy watching there fights does make me feel sad in a way cos in other era's these guys wouldn't get mentioned.

:-( sad but true, well for a lot of them, gavin will be future world champion - not titlist!

I'm reading Barry McGuigan's autobiography at the moment and he expounds on the greater technical ability of American boxers compared to Brits resulting from their training methods. It's a great book and I'd highly recommend it.

I have read that book, he is a very intelligent man and has a very good knowledge of boxing. I liked the part when he goes on about altitude training, best place for that is to be in that country.

Barry's still involved with Anderson by sounds, he's a good guy to have in and around your team.
