It may have had some impact, but it was not the deciding factor.

It mattered because he hasn't looked very good above 160 but i think Hopkins beats him at any weight, Pavlik is just to limited for a skilled veteran like B-Hop.

Hopkins does'nt beat you with speed, he does it with skill.
There is'nt anything weird about it.

Styles make fights....Hopkins had trouble with Taylor's speed and hustle, but Pavlik's speed is nowhere near Taylor's.

Taylor for example will always have more trouble with Pavlik's long reach and power, than an old Hopkins skillset.

Styles make fights, Hopkins even admitted to such at the ring interview.

i retract "half-hearted" as it looks insulting. maybe down-hearted or resigned would be more accurate. congratulations to hopkins.

Probably agree,Bernard beats him in any weight,Pavlik ain't in his class. But I don't know what was in Pavlik's head going up from MW to LHW thinking he could beat Hopkins when he didn't have power, speed, footwork or stamina at 164 vs Taylor.:patsch

Bernard is the naturally bigger man. It was a factor, but not the only factor. It doesn't matter though. They can have as many excuses as they want. It doesn't change the fact that at the end of the day, B-Hop is by far the superior fighter.

What I find ridiculous is the fact that so many people believed that Pavlik would not only easily go up to 170, but would also KO Bernard Hopkins of all people. The hype around Pavilk was ridiculous and I had been calling it out for several months now. Maybe people will finally start listening. There was a reason why no one thought he would beat Miranda. He's slow, plodding, and predictable. That doesn't mean he doesn't have power or heart, but against a world class boxer like Hopkins or Calzaghe or even Tarver and Winky, he'll get waxed everytime.

Next up for exposure, Paul Williams.

People keep bringing up weight. Why doesn't anyone bring up age? Hopkins is 43 years old. Pavlik is 26 years old. That is a 16 year age difference. Hopkins has been boxing for 20 years now. Pavlik has been boxing for eight years. Pavlik - prime....Hopkins - past. You telling me that a 26 year old prime champion can't beat a 43 year old post-prime veteran because of 10 pounds? Don't buy it.
