So which one of these guys is on the downslide and has decided its now or never to get a payday before they go down and out? Wilder after going life and death with his first 39 year old legitimate contender? Or Fury, coming back after a very long obese layoff, is secretly shot and just after one more payday? No doubt both think they can win, but one of these guys at the back of their mind is saying, 'I need this, otherwise...'

If anyone IS cashing out it's Fury. Though I'm not saying he is, maybe he does genuinely believe Wilder is easy pickings and he is ready.

I think Wilder's team saw the opportunity for a big name scalp (a weakened one) where the reward outweighs the risk. So not a cash out on their behalf neither, just a smart move, at the right time. They hope.

Fury is cashing out, no way he can be ready for a title shot after beating two absolute puddings.

Neither. Wilder is taking the fight because he believes that he has found another cripple like Ortiz, Stivern and Arreola. Fury is taking it because he knows he can beat a novice like Wilder with either hand.

Neither of them. I think they both believe they can win.

In Fury's case though, if he does win, I think the same thing will happen as before: he will have no interest in defending, and will probably disappear into his addictions again. The only thing that would prevent that would be a humongous payday against Joshua.

Wilder is fighting to win, too. And if he does, I believe he will carry on until he is beaten.

Agreed. Fury's comeback trail is eirily similar to Haye's, which makes me ask, is he even coming back? Or is just in need of a payday, and Wilders team are always on the hunt for the weakest lamb.

    Fury.....

But he can actually afford to lose given his layoff, there's always that excuse, well not excuse......but it's pretty clear he doesn't look as sharp.

A loss for Wilder destroys any limited chance of him creating a 'legacy'.

Wilder generates 0 money, so a loss puts him behind 2 loss Joe Parker when title challenges are being handed out.

Anyone who thinks Fury lost 120 pounds and beat a drug addiction to "cash out" has no window into the human heart.

Clearly none of them - why would either cash out against the other when the obvious cash out fight is against Joshua?

So why not delay it 12 months until he's better prepared?

The phrase " cash out "is over rated and over used.

Neither is "cashing out." They are both in their boxing primes. They made the biggest fight they could make in the division without Joshua. It's a world title fight. They'll likely agree to more than one fight (which has already been talked about).

Fury is the boxer. Wilder is the puncher. One guy could win the first fight. Another could win the second. There could even be a third fight. Fury could box Wilder's ears off and get stopped late. Wilder could drop Fury a bunch of times and then get frustrated and outboxed (like Pac-Marquez I).

Literally anything could happen. They both have unique styles, and they look like those styles could mesh well together.

They are on the cusp of making real money in their careers.

It isn't the end. It's just beginning. This is what their previous fights were for. To get to this point.

A loss for Wilder means he fights Fury again next spring.

Like I posted elsewhere, there's this thing in contracts called rematch clauses ... it'll be in there.

Looks like a cash out to me.

When Fury first came back he was talking about 3-4 tune ups. He has had 1 tune up and is now signed to fight the 2nd biggest name in HW boxing.

So it looks to me like his team doesnt think he can hold it together to get through 3-4 tune ups and is throwing him in early to cash out.
