Wilder got stopped by the best heavyweight of this era. Dropping Fury twice and lasting 11 rounds with him is far, far more impressive than scraping a draw against Jerry Forrest. For all his flaws, Wilder is still the best American heavyweight.

You must be forgetting the YEARS when Eddie Chambers, Chris Arreola and Tony Thompson were the top U.S. heavyweights BY FAR. They never won anything. Or the year, I believe 2008, when the top 10 heavyweights included NO U.S. fighters at all. Not one.
    ;)

Deontay Wilder is a Hall of Famer.

If beating Stiverne, Luis Ortiz and Brezeale makes you worthy of HOF the sport is in even worse health that i thought!!

I'm a Fury fan but he is not the best of his era. If he beats Whyte then the winner of Usyk v Joshua then we are in agreement untill then it's just talk.

Wilder fans say that because it makes Wilder look a lot better than he is. Fury and Wilder have very poor resume's. Take there fights against each other off and there is just one signature win and even that was a bit of a stinker..

    This is just reality.

    Thanks.

I would've said Hunter but he looked absolutely terrible in his last fight

All-time great heavyweight title series tend to get you there as well. As do five-year, 10 successful heavyweight title defense reigns.

Regardless, the best U.S. heavyweight isn't Eddie Chambers or Tony Thompson.

I know what you mean mate but does water the whole HOF thing down.

He went 0-2-1 with Fury (Who’s resume is thin too) and probably won 5 out of 29 or 30 rounds, and beat Ortiz and Stiverne as his best wins.

Can’t be HOF for that surely.

Somehow, despite being a "Tyson Fury Fan" ... you have this all totally backwards.

Tyson Fury has won all of the heavyweight titles WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO and the Ring belt (twice) ... and hasn't lost them in the ring.

He keeps them all in a trophy case.

Tyson Fury is the World Heavyweight Champion. He's on top. No one is rated above him. He is the King of the Heavyweights (and of boxing).

Tyson Fury doesn't "have" to beat the Usyk-Joshua II winner or Whyte any more than he has to beat Andy Ruiz. The belts Usyk and Joshua and Ruiz and Parker and Martin had were all Fury's. Not one of them beat him for them.

Fury doesn't have to do anything. He is the best of his era. He's on the very top RIGHT NOW. He's the MAN.

He beat two of the most dominant, longest reigning champs this century (Wlad and Wilder) to win both of his Ring titles and ALL the belts.

For anyone to prove Fury ISN'T the best of his era, they have to beat him.

It's not the other way around.

There's no one above Fury who he has to knock off to prove he's the best. He already has. All the heavyweights are below him now. They have to prove they can beat him to get to the top. He's already there.

He is the best of his era ... until someone proves they are better than him.

    That's just reality.

He’s definitely number one now. But his third best win is Chisora so he does need to beef up his resume.

    5/10 Troll attempt.

You nearly pulled me in then. I got about half way down and realised you were definately pulling my plonker.

Dubblechin is still shook from Usyk eclipsing Wilder's entire résumé in three fights at HW.

If Wilder retires, I think the best American Heavyweight was the guy who knocked out Joshua in New York.
