So are successive defences against utter ****. Usyk in three fights has a better win than any of Wilder's career, and has faced more punchers. He's a better fighter, and will be remembered as such. You'll come to terms with this one day. Btw, it's really cute how you cling on to the "successful defence vs the heavyweight champion" line. Everyone knows Wilder lost that night.
You overrate Wilder due to Fury. He hasn't beaten anyone in the ring magazine since a 40 something Ortiz and that was years ago. Ortiz shouldn't be ranked today. He's old. The minute you start talking publicly about retiring your will to be the best is gone. Wilder's time is quickly running out. He needs to fight top ten guy, or retire.
Wilder and Vitali Klitschko will share a toast to "successive successful defenses against utter ****" when Wilder gets inducted into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot like Vitali was.
Arturo Gatti is in the HOF. A man who has a grand total of zero wins against Angel Manfredy and Ivan Robinson. Hip hip hooray.
I don't have one right now until Ruiz comes in at 240, or Wilder is active and beats a top ten guy ( if he still active ). It's really in flux, they both were exposed for different reasons. Hunter flopped. Could have been big Baby Miller, but NO the drugs. Best answer is it remains to be seen if there is a guy currently #1, sort of like asking who's the best Japanese ( no offense just picking a nation ) heavyweight. Technically there is one but he's not discussed nor is there a agreement on who he is. We are approaching that point.
So are both of the Klitschkos ... and so will Wilder and Fury ... who are collectively the four dominant heavyweights of this century so far. And Usyk will get in, too, for his cruiserweight run. Joshua has begun to teeter, though. He lost to a fat mess late sub and a middle-aged southpaw cruiserweight who hadn't beaten a rated heavyweight. You may get one or two of those types of losses and still get somewhat of a pass. I don't know if you get too many more.
I would say right now it's Deontay Wilder, but he's followed closely by Andy Ruiz. The next BIG win for either of them would decide it right now, whenever (if ever) that comes, unless somebody rises up (always a possibility).
It depends what weight you give to Usyk's GOAT cruiserweight run. As someone who referred to Usyk and Briedis as "dried-out heavyweights" why not count it? Most of them enter the ring around 210 lbs and one of Usyk's lesser victims (Hunter) beat borderline fringe HW contenders Bakole and Kuzmin conclusively. Usyk beat three reigning champions at cruiser (Glowacki, Briedis, Gassiev) and a reigning champion at heavy, all on the road. Wilder beat one reigning champion in his career (Stiverne) AJ beat three (Martin, Parker, Ruiz 2) but both did it with home and/or A-side advantage.
Hunter. Not seeing any merit for the hype around Anderson, Wilder is probably done, and Ruiz is a fat inconsistent blob. Despite his bad performance last time out, it's probably Hunter h2h.
I’m a Fury fan too. If Usyk beats Fury, then Usyk is the best HW of this era, but until that happens, it’s Fury.
I would agree but it's not decisive at this point I mean he is at this moment. If he fights the winner of Usyk v AJ and holds all the belts then that will be certain. Whoever wins the unification is the man. If that however does not happen then it's a grey area.
