A blind man can see how good he is and a blind man can see he's never been in with a puncher either... not even an unskilled puncher. I disagree that he has the complete package. He's shown some more maturity in his last two fights and I wish him all the best, but the feller just isn't very smart and as a result, he is prone to fighting the wrong fight and making wrong decisions that could prove costly against certain types. Yeah, he may be lucky to dominate at LHW and CW during fallow times, but he doesn't have it in him to become a HOF/ATG.
So I guess Tarver nor Adamek are punchers?atsch Both of guys were at the top of the 175 pound division in terms of power.
That version of Adamek at 175 lbs put Dawson down but was too drained to finish the job. I know it sounds like I am not giving Dawson the credit he deserves, but Adamek was drained that night. Should have moved up... So, no, I don't consider that version of Adamek a puncher. As to the Tarver that Dawson fought... I know you're having me on, man.
That's easy. The first Johnson fight. He fought the wrong fight. Look at the first fight...then look at the second fight.
In fairness he did fight the wrong fight against Johnson the first time but he did learn from his mistake and in the rematch fought a much smarter fight.
I wouldn't describe him as a puncher though. He has one stoppage(against a can) since he knocked out Roy. Tarver is a good counterpuncher and can catch someone cold. However, he's not a puncher IMO. Adamek definately is a puncher. He's laid guys out across 3 divisions.
I don't think the weight had anything to do with it. Dawson is just all wrong for Adamek. Even so he still had some serious power in that fight and would have been dangerous for anyone in the 175 division that night.
It doesn't work that way. You've said a lot of good things in this thread, but you're stretching it here IMO.
