I cant understand why, why so many people are saying hopkins is overrated! Bernard Hopkins held the middlewieght title for 10 years- is that overrated

Bernard Hopkins really is one of the 10 best middles of all time how can that be overrated, are their people that say he was the best ever?

Haye is not overated. He's a unified cw champion and now a hw champion. Paper champion but great to watch and pfp top 10 puncher.

Now ward! He's overhyped to the max. Next RJJ WTF? He would beat calzaghe? Ftw?
What have some ppl been smoking?

    totally agree.
hopkins is one of those rare fighters who nobody looks look against - and nobody did.
boxing isn't always about flair and pleasing the beer and popcorn couch potatoes. hopkins was a master of his art and i find it hard to believe how some people fail to see how skilled he really was.

    Put it into perspective.

He had two title fights in the worst division in boxing. He then went up one division and fought the guy who was widely criticised as the worst heavyweight champion ever - and put on one of the worst displays of the decade in the process.

Dress it up however you want, it still doesn't put him in spitting distance of the top 20 P4P. Realistically he is hovering between 50 - 40 P4P, and hasn't done much to even prove he belongs in the top 10 of his current division. One godawful victory over Valuev who was hovering about the #10 mark himself is Haye's only justification.

Again. 2 title fights against nobodies in the weakest division. Then a couple of fights against guys in another division who likely aren't in the top 150 P4P. You can polish this turd, but it still isn't shining - unless you are British and have no self respect.

The thing about ward is he is proving himself NOW! right now in the super six, that keeps him from being hyped, and he is now fighting the top of his division.

Andre Ward gave Miranda, Kessler, and Green a boxing lesson I think that goes a long way to proving his worth.

well, they are all rated just right, but recently ward has been getting some great reviews from experts. let us see if he will live to the expectations.

He wasn't the unified champ. He was the undisputed champ. He never had the IBF strap.

Perhaps if he had actually had more than 2 title fights he would have been able to unify.

But why would he bother, when he can ride a wave of hysterical British fans who think he is better than Ali while taking on challenges like the mighty Valuev, Ruiz - and seemingly Harrison?

Seriously, think about it. Two title fights at cruiser, against nobodies, in the weakest division in boxing. Think about it. It isn't worth ****.

I voted Hopkins, but I should have said Donaire. No way he should be #4 P4P.

Gamboa or Bute...fighting 1-dimensional fighters. Whenever they fight a different type of opponent, they will get owned.
