I suspect there is a north/south split here. Benn and Eubank in their pomp were much bigger stars in the south than Hatton has been thus far. Actually I just did my mainstream or not in boxing test, and asked my mum whether she has heard of Hatton; she had, but unlike Benn or Eubank she had not seen him fight, indeed she fought he was a Black Middleweight... (although she did acknowledge a picture of Hatton that I showed her)
Top 10 Brits (maybe?): Cooper Bruno McGuigan Benn Benny Lynch Eubank Billy Walker Chris Finnegan Freddie Mills Randy Turpin Hard to say with Hatton, if judged on hometown he's as popular as anyone, but not as many people see him in action as they did with Benn, Eubank, etc. Least Popular: JT's Aussie mate Bugner. :hey
Bruno is the most popular but id argue Lennox Lewis was probably just as if not probably more well known.
i'd say his victory over a peak Robinson is the greatest victory by any brit at any time, what do you think?
Lewis became very popular after the Tyson win. That was splashed all over the front of the newspapers- main headline in many too.
