Im pretty sure that the thread title is Fighter Of the Year, and Not 1 MMA Fight In a Year
    GSP ftw

GSP is a weird one for me this year. He's been dominant, but I don't think the level of competition he's faced this year has been that great.

Has he only had the one MMA fight? I'll need to take that back then. I'll go with GSP as well

Jose Aldo for me, but there is definitely a shout for Cain or Edgar. Which I would not argue with.

Edgar.. Doesn't mean he is arguably the P4P best like Aldo, GSP.

Maybe next year will be Reems if he beats Fedor & Werdum, strictly speaking MMA of course

K1 isn't MMA so you can't count that.

I think fighters should fight at least three times a year to become fighter of the year. So I would go with Ben Henderson if he wins at WEC 53.

From your list I would pick Edgar because he beat the man at lightweight twice.

    1. Edgar
    2. Aldo
    3. Velasquez

    Cain -
KO win over Nog in 2:20 rd 1
TKO win over Brock Lesnar 4:12 rd 1. Wins HW Championship

    Frankie Edgar -
UD win over BJ Penn (50-45, 49-46, 48-47). Wins LW Championship
UD win over BJ Penn (50-45, 50-45, 50-45). Defends LW Championship

    Jose Aldo -
UD win over Urijah Faber (49-45, 49-45, 50-45) Defends FW Championship
KO win over Manny Gamburian 1:32 of round 2. Defendens FW Championship.

    Georges St-Pierre -
UD win over Dan Hardy (50-43, 50-44, 50-45) Defends WW Championship
UD win over Josh Koscheck (50-45, 50-45, 50-45) Defends WW Championship.

I'm just voting between those choices because I don't feel like looking up everybody's performances.

Based on the criteria of quality of performance and quality of opponent, I would give it to Frankie Edgar, just ahead of Cain.

Cain had the better quality of performance with 2 brutal KO's in dominating fights, but the quality of Nog isn't what it used to be, and that was not a championship fight.
