There is not doubt in terms of TALENT. But he believes too much in his power and his god given rght to win. First fighter who back him up, and doesn't leave him aloone with a touch of power is going to cause James some problems

Some problems, possibly... but given that Frank will take him up nice and slow, he should be prepared to deal with a pressure fighter (then).

But to be honest, if we're to be fair, it should matter very little how Degale fights against this calibre of opposition in his first ten fights or so... the only point of these fights is to make him known and popular, so of course, he's going to look for flashy combos and KOs...

...but all this doesn't mean that when he starts taking on better competition he will fight the same way.

Frank shouldn't start suddenly pushing the likes of Cleverly and Brook. First he matches them all up softly and now when he has no star names he wants to throw them all in at the deep end :patsch

Warren should just accept that Cleverly and Brook won't be ready for World level this year so should just get them good matches at Euro level to prepare them for the jump to World level.

The problem with degale is that he has some fundamental issues in terms of how he punches and his genral pro technique.
He is an accident waiting to happen

punches with the inside of the glove consistently.
comes in in straight lines all the time.
serious lack of head movement. We don't know what his chin is like yet. But he was getting caught by Horton.
Foot movement doesn't get him out of danger.
maybe all things that resolve themselves. But as an outstanding amateur, you would have thought that a few of these things would have been better.

    Thanks for that.

The thing is, he just doesn't respect these guys, so maybe we can put some of the sloppiness and silliness down to that...

...but you're right, he doesn't look like a million dollars, and for a top class amateur, you'd expect more elegance. But an accident waiting to happen is maybe overstating it a bit, I think.

the amateurs caused it, pushing buttons for handbag swinging punches, he,s improved a bit, but as an amateur he never throwed a clean correct punch, goerge groves stuffs him any day,.

lets hope burns will be franks next world champion,it was always going to look difficult to look impressive against someone like al hamidi who comes to survive, you will see a totally diffrent burns against someone who he feels a threat against. frankie gavin looked razer sharp last night on the pads and in the fight and james degale's shot selection is very good both have very bright futures.
