a past it calzaghe beat hopkins on foreign soil with a corrupt ref.

people want to ignore these facts yet want to go overboard in praise for hopkins when he beats much lighter men like wright, pavlik, de la hoya, trinidad. none of those fighters were fighting at their peak weight when fighting hopkins and none of them went on to achieve **** all in those weights after they fought hopkins.

his entire career is smoke and mirrors swallowed by a gullable american public who got brainwashed by hbo and ring magazine.

I don't have the time or energy to pick apart a post that is ludicrous on pretty much every level - though I would urge you think a little more deeply on this issue before you comment on it again. Your position is absurd.

PS: I am referring only to your opinions on Bernard Hopkins here, I'm not speaking about the Hopkins-Calzaghe debate of this thread.

If I were to consider only their record-setting careers at MW and SMW respectively, there's little to pick between them.

Head to head, I believe Calzaghe takes it at 168 or 175, in 2002 or 2008.

But Bernard's longevity and his superior resume outside of MW (Tarvrer/Winky/Pavlik) gives him a slight edge.

I don't know in what order history will place them, but right now, BHop has a very slight edge.

I'm about the same as you cuch, except only that I'd fancy Hopkins to win a close fight if they fought in 2002.

couldn't agree more, some of the the brainwashed bile from borenard fans on this thread is disgracefull. they have zero facts to back up there deluded opinions.

Lost 5 fights to 3 fighters, losing closely to the first fighter who beat him, then doing better in a rematch with that fighter to score a SD against him, then losing widely to Calzaghe when Eubank was favourite, then losing to a World champ 2 divisions higher than he had ever fought before in a close fight and then losing to the same CW world champ when ahead but having to be pulled out due to swelling.
On the logic you use, then why was there such a big buzz surrounding Mosely - Maywheather?
Mosely only had 5 wins in 10 fights

Again, it may seem that I'm looking to demolish Calzaghe's resume. I'm not. I just think it should not be overinflated, as some on here tend to do. If guys have to go thru such lengths to justify not only a guys weaker wins, but his best wins, what does that say about the fighter's resume?

If you take all their wins and were to combine them into one list in order of best to worst, what would it look like?

Sure Hopkins has some big name fighters on his resume but some of the big name wins on his resume never fought as high again, and you will find many try and justify Hopkins resume to the same lengths whilst others will KO it, it happens. Weaker wins get addressed if someone brings them up, but im always open to honest critism, if someone thinks ive not answered something in what I believe is a truthful fashion.

While it was only 3 losses in Mosley's last 10, it is a fair point. But the guys he lost to are some serious operators. Wright(x2) and Cotto. If you go further back he lost to Vernon Forrest x2. But I will agree Mosley is not in his prime and at least several years removed.

Wow, Bhop is only winning 2-1! This question has been debate on hear about 100 times and Bhop has constant won . . . why in the hell are we still arguing the point? Oh I forgot some people cannot let the man, the myth, named Joe die! No other fighters fans constantly bring their name up. Don't you guys get it? the people who hate him will never, ever like him. And people who are fans of boxing and appreciated him for what he did drive us to despise the fellow. Crap like he could beat ALI, he could beat Prime RJJ (who I hated) with ease or he is top ten p4p, or putting down other fighters only trying to prove his greatness only drove me and many others finds reasons why to pick him a part (which is very easy to do).
