Who is Greater: Hearns or Mayweather?

I think that Robinson should be rightfully favored over Hearns due to his durability and power.. I haven't watched much of him, but from what i have seen, heard, read etc. I do believe that he is the GOAT.. But Hearns was an absolute physical specimen and a relentless beast @147, i don't think that it would be a complete shocker if Hearns pulled it off.. We have seen FAR bigger upsets in the history of the sport..

 

Damn I'm a huge Hearns fan, but I got to rank Floyd above Hearns. Hearns just didn't have the chin to compete with the top heavier fighters. His poor son has the same problem.

 

Hearns resume is far far deeper than FMJs. Quality of opposition:

Sugar Ray Leonard
Hagler
Duran
Virgil Hill
Michael Olajide
Shuler
Wilfred Benitez
Pipino Cuevas

His span of weight classes was insane.

Hearns by a mile over FMJ & Pacman.

He NEEDS pacquiao on his record to even be considered in this discussion IMO... & I`m not talkin when 1 or both are shot to ****, I`m talking 2 ****in years ago preferrably but realistically very, very soon... as in 2012.

 

Agreed, Robinson had the best offensive variety in the history of the sport & even tho Tommy has a far better chin than the average fan thinks, it`s still not Hagler or Chavez material & he`s simply too open to survive a peak Robinson for 15 brutal rounds.

By the way... I`d favour the Robinson that TKO`d Lamotta vs any fighter ever caught on film from 160 lbs downwards, he was that good.

I like the Graziano performance as well; some really good, furious exchanges. You can tell Robinson was red-hot steaming when Rock put him along the ropes with that overhand right. He zeroed in and finished him quick fast in devastating fashion. Before that, he'd been content to circle and throw the jab, occasionally coming on with combos, then back outside. I dont think people realize how difficult it is to turn it up like that and KTFO a world class fighter at the drop of a dime. Looked like his teeth flew out of his mouth with the piece..

 

FM to beat Hearns.

 

Both are great, Hearns win over SRL would be the "best" win on either resume, but I think Floyd has a deeper resume and as someone mentioned earlier, when all the chips have been on the table...Floyd wins, Hearns can't say the same. Head to head, I think Hearns height and power would be hell for Floyd, but in terms of resume I'd go Floyd.

 

There is nothing to indicate in Mayweather's career that he would have had a snowball's chance in hell against Hearns.Nothing.Not opposition,performances or quality of opposition.If Castillo could give May problems at 130 and DeLaHoya could at 147 or 154,Tommy beats him quite,quite clearly.It's pretty obvious.

 

This is unfair, I'm sure if the best competition Hearns faced was Castillo and Corrales level fighters, then Tommy would have beaten them hands down. If Floyd faced Leonard, Duran, Benitez and Hagler quality fighters throughout his career, do you really think he'd retire undefeated?

 

I love Hearns, but dude...how can I say this...this is simply ******ed. "Tommy is easily better"..."his opposition was so much better", this is a case of overrating the past. I would favor Hearns H2H, and I have nothing but respect for the man, but the two statements quoted are grossly incorrect and demonstrate as much "fan boy" qualities as anything you would say about guys who post here now.

 

Floyds been in with many hall of famers and beat them all, his style makes him hard to hit and he is one of the fastest punchers of alltime, his fitness is legendary, I think he would have given Hearns a hell of a fight.

Hearns had reach and punching power but could he tag FM and KO him I doubt it.
