Who is Greater: Hearns or Mayweather?

Floyd will not fight Manny. This has been going on for years now and Martinez is too high in weight. Floyd might try and weaken Sergio but isn' that what he is accusing Manny of doing with the catchweights?

Shane was great when he fought years ago, but recently he has had one great win against Margarito and then a lot of losing due to being near 40. I cannot think that win is great. Canelo just did the same thing. Pacman beat Cotto and Oscar better than Floyd did. Everyone Floyd fights is shopworn. I always said Floyd handpicked, because the fact is he never fought pacman who was the top guy. Hearns would have fought Pacman 3 years ago at this point, and both guys would have had the chance to fight others and maybe had a rematch by now. Floyd just plays games and waits for guys to get old so he can fight them and have the name on the resume, after they lost thier best skills. He cannot compare to Hearns. Pacman can. Oscar can since Oscar did fight the best, but his best skills were not at 147. I wish Oscar would have stayed at 140. But there was no money there for him.

 

I was going to tell you to brush up and get back to me, but I always think that is rude to tell someone. It was evident when you said Cueves was the same as Ortiz and Judah. You cannot believe that.

 

Cueves had 12 title defenses and 11 knockouts in those fights. Fought Weston,Espada,Gray, Sheilds in those defenses. Hearns was his last bigt title fight, but he had big fights. Duran he would fight later in 1983 when he was diminished.

 

I said his best skills were not at 147, did I say he had no skills? Oscar was great. no doubt, but to say Floyd fought Oscar when he was prime and good is stretching it. There is doubt to Oscar's win against Sturm 3 years before Floyd.

 

Cuevas fought who was in front of him. If you say they were second and third tier? Well then Ortiz fought 5th tier. Anyone can say that. Shields,Gray,Weston,Espada were all good fighters. The resume of Ortiz compared to Cuevas is not close.

 

The main thing you gat to look for in a boxer of this level is the stance, Hearns was always ready to fire that long, sharp right hand down the pipe and and had super-smart SRL circling around the ring the first time and twice on the deck in the rematch, Hagler cut and clearly going all or noting from that opening round. Look at the Andries fight who had a trilogy with Harding from Australia b4 Jeff Harding lost it to Mike McCallum and this to RJJ, Andries just gave up after hitting the deck so many times and for the WBC LHWT Championship. Roldan who was what Baldo was recently, had Hagler down from a punch/half slip in the first round, another guy that hit the deck so may times that stood face down and for the vacant WBC MW belt against Hearns, not to mention Duran in two rounds. ****, Hearns beat Hill and Hill who was undefeated didn't say anything and would beat Maske afterwards, and when Hearns hit the deck again against Barkley to defend that WBA LHWT Title, he stood up 12 rounds with a broken nose and all swollen, ****, man!

 

Everyone was impressed with Cuevas. The guy was a solid champion who could punch. He was no Duran or Hearns, but he was HOF. You think Judah or Ortiz will ever be HOF?
When Judah or Ortiz have 12 title defenses of a world title against what you call fringe contender opponents then maybe you will have a stronger point.

 

exactly, and each time Tommy was knocked out with Ray in 1981 and Hagler in 1985 and Barkley in 1988 he came back immediately and fought. less the 3 months after Ray against a middleweight Singeltary. Against Shuler (scheduled for Nov, but Hagler injury postponed) and against Kinchen in 1988. Mayweather would retire if he were stopped like Hearns was

 

Hearns if he was in boxing today he would be p4p number one and would beat pbf and destroy Pac.

 

H2H sure Hearns should be rated higher.
