    Vicente Salvidar:
    Jose Legra
    Howard Winstone
    Johnny Famechon
    Mitsonori Seki
    Sugar Ramos
    Ismael Laguna
    Famous losses: Eder Jofre, Shibata
    ----------------------
    Carlos Ortiz:
    Nicolino Locche (yes, Carlos won)
    Ismael Laguna
    Sugar Ramos
    Flash Elorde
Duilio Loi 1 (lost the rivalry)
    Other VERY solid contenders
Famous losses: Duilio Loi, Carlos Teo Cruz, (Ken Buchanan doesn't count, Carlos was completely shot), all other losses were avenged

    1. Who is higher and
    2. Where do you rate the one you rate highest, in your ATG rankings

For me, I am starting to think Carlos Ortiz could be in my Top 50 ATG (near 50 ish).
His only real loss to me, is Ortiz-Loi 3.

Probably Ortiz for me too due to his greater longevity and number of fights. They're both among my very favourites. I might chip in later with something more in depth....

Ortiz is in the 28-32 bracket for me. Saldivar in the 50-60 I imagine. I'm not sure why they're that far apart though to be honest other than Saldivar's more short and sweet record (and of course the two ace scalps he picked up straight off the bat in his comeback, was competitive with Shibata as well so no shame there, Shibata was super quick) I really, really rate Ortiz mind and have been much more impressed with certain wins on Saldivar's record the more I look into 'em. He's one of the greatest feathers of all time IMO. Ortiz one of the greatest lightweights and has the wins over Locche and Loi.

I'd out Ortiz 37-30, Saldivar close but below Ortiz in the low forties. Maybe I just like Ortiz too much.

I want to pick Saldivar...Heck I try and pick him whenever it is reasonable....I just don't think it is reasonable in this comparison.

Don't forget to mention Kenny Lane, who Carlos Ortiz also beat in two of their three fights. Lane had a win and a draw against the lethal punching Carlos Hernandez and Lane was regarded by many as an uncrowned champ of sorts.

As for the thread...even as a Saldivar booster, Ortiz was greater.

Still love boxing, just soured a little on esb...I guess mathematically my PHILLIES are still alive, but I believe our best years are behind us, at least until we realize the time for starting over has come. Pittsburgh (Darn them!)has robbed me of any wildcard hopes as well.
