'Duran has 16 losses, Pac has fewer losses. Simple.'

I personally have Floyd losing to Castillo so I see Floyd as 45-1 in all honesty. That changes things a little.

I don't rate the wins over Mosley and De La Hoya anywhere near others do, given they were no longer the same fighters.

Pacquiao unfortunately isn't the same killer he once was, therefore I don't think he'd be a lock for Top 20, especially given that I have SRL as around 15th and Whitaker 20th. It's easy to forget Whitaker also fought an underrated monster in Julio Cesar Vasquez at 154lbs. Whitaker was completely dwarfed on fight night.

Duran is in the top 10, no question. You can even make a case for Top 5, what that guy did in 2 separate decades was incredible to say the least. Aside from being arguably the greatest LW in history, he won FOTD for the 1970's and had a good deal of sucess during the twilight stage of his career during the 80's. He might've lost to Benitez, hearns, Hagler and SRL (twice,) but he was the smallest man of the 5 and did get a big time victory over SRL and gave Hagler one of the toughest fights of his career. Combine all of this with the fact he captured the MW title at such an advanced stage in his career, and it's pretty clear to me he ranks higher than Mayweather.

I'd say Mayweather is getting close to around 20 in the ATG rankings though. People will try to discredit Floyd at every corner, but he has been doing a lot of remarkable things at his current age.

I actually thought recently about how Mayweather stacks up career wise versus a more contemporary ATG in Pernell Whitaker; a legend who's widely regarded as a top 10-20 P4P fighter of all time. While I believe Sweet Pea beat Chavez Sr, he did lose other marquis fights such as DLH and Trinidad, albeit it was during the tail end of his career.

Pernell is probably one of a handful of fighters in the history of the sport that can matchup with Floyd as far as skillset goes, but I truly believe Mayweather has trumped Sweet pea's accomplishments. He won a championship (lineal) at a lighter weight, has more titles in more divisions than Pea, more lineal titles, and he has more HOF fighters on his resume than Whitaker does.

Pea undoubtedly has the biggest name on either of their resumes, but FLoyd has a lot more HOf'ers under his. Combined with the fact that he's still the best fighter in the world at almost 40 years old now, and I think he has surpassed Pernell at this point in his career now.

If FLoyd beats Pacman and Cotto for his lineal championship, and maybe even decides to fight one more time to stretch his record to 50-0, than this guy is going to have an argument for top 10 ever. At that point, he'd be 26-0 in title fights, 5 lineal championships, titles in 6 divisions and 12 or 13 wins against HOF'ers. That sounds like a top 10 resume to me. He can still acheive great things if he's ambitious enough.

Might as well ask who has the bigger set of balls and you would get the same answer.

If Floyd retired today I could be tempted to call him top 10, but Duran is top 5 for me.

I don't see why some people are so passionately against Floyd though.

A fight between the two at LW - WW would be great to watch. Both have beaten everyone they fought in that range, but Duran has a win over prime Leonard and Floyd doesn't have and win close to that. Had Floyd fought Pac in a WW unification, we would have a better idea but we all know what happened there.

For the love of christ someone explain to me how Mayweather can be near your top ten or top 15, he's not even top 30.
Duran beat a top 10 ATG moving up in weight, he managed to take a top 5 MW in history the distance and was ahead on the cards until the late stages and Durans best days were at LW, He is the greatest LW ever in most peoples view and in the twilight of his career won the MW title. It really isn't close.

Now with regards to Mayweather being top 15 this list my list and please explain to me how what he's done to rank above any of these guys

    1 SRR
    2 Henry Armstrong
    3 Ali
    4 SRL
    5 Willie Pep
    6 Roberto Duran
    7 Mickey Walker
    8 Harry Greb
    9 Jimmy Wilde
    10 Sam Langford
    11 Marvin Hagler
    12 Benny Leonard
    13 Archie Moore
    14 Manny Pacquiao
    15 Larry Holmes

    My top 9 atm is

    Robinson
    Whittaker
    Jones
    Armstrong
    Duran
    Leonard
    Pep
    Ali
    Hagler

Number 10 is between Hearns, Chavez, Jofre and Burley as it stands. Maybe Floyd will take that spot when he retires, depends how his career goes.

Duran without a doubt. His name alone strikes fear.

SO Mayweather isn't in your Top 30 but Pacman is # 14? So Pacman is at LEAST 17 spots ahead of Mayweather in your ATG rankings?

Ok well I question your boxing knowledge. Your list is OK, but there's no way Pacman deserves to be in that mantle already. I'd take Joe Louis, Dempsey, Tunney, Chavez Sr and Whitaker over Pacman anyday of the week in the rankings.

Floyd is more interested in keeping his "0" than building his legacy. Ducking dodging fighters left and right. Hands of stone never run duck or dodge.

I suspect this is another Mayweather-bashing thread. Duran is easily top ten, Mayweather is about top thirty.

In terms of H2H ability, SRL is 3rd best of all time in my opinion.
In terms of greatness in no order, these guys are greater than SRL:
Greb, Armstrong, Ray Robinson, Langford, Charles, Ali, Benny Leonard, Pep, Moore, Ross, Duran, Gans, Fitzsimmons, Louis.
