Losing to Floyd with many competitive rounds to me is more impressive than knocking out the likes of Lucian Bute. Nothing outrageous about that.
Cotto is the better fighter but he is coming of a loss whilst Froch is coming of a big win over the number 2 in the division. Although that lose was to the P4P number 1 and he put up a good fight against the best active boxer you could argue that he is ahead. I rate Froch ahead atleast currently.
The both lost by a huge margin to the two best p4p fighters on the planet. However, I think Cotto while I had only winning two rounds looked a lot better than froch who got out right schooled. Floyd is no1 p4p and Ward no2, so by reasoning Cotto ranks higher. Froxh is way overrated and reminds me of the old saying; its better to be lucky than good". Yes, Froch blew out Bute but the same guys who are pointing to this are same ones saying Bute was extremely overrated.
The way I judge it is Cotto is a better overall fighter lookwise & his weight divisions have in general been harder weight classes to excel in..... Of his 3 losses, 2 of them were to fmj & pac, lets not pretend Froch would have a chance vs either of those guys if size was a non-factor. Either way I`m not greatly fussed about this particular debate but I definitely rank Cotto higher though, personally. :good
Yeah we know because for once we have a thread starter that has taken the time to tick the `make votes public` box. :good
Cotto by a hair. His effort against Mayweather was better IMHO. While I'd argue Ward could be argued as P4P #1 today. I think the Mayweather that fought Froch was probably a bit more capable than the Ward with a broken left hand against Froch (Even though that fight was rather one-sided). At the same time, Cotto fought Mayweather above his optimal weight, although it's not like JR MW is Cotto best division really.
