Bit of talk in Australia that Macklin will fight Daniel Geale over here in 3 months time? Nothing official yet....anybody know about this possible fight?
Wouldn't be shocked. His promoter seems to like the IBO title. It would take him towards a world title shot without fighting the danger men in Europe so maybe it's a avenue Hatton will pursue for Macklin.
I think you hit it on the head mate....Geale has first shot at the IBO MW title as Mundine vacated the title when ordered to fight his mandatory in Geale. It will be a good fight if it comes off and it will be in Sydney so should be a close fight with hometown advantage going to Geale
Macklin is on the brink of landing a world title shot and if i was him i wouldnt be risking **** either.
i would love to see a rematch with jamie moore, moore is going to move up sooner or later! dont know if macklin would want such a hard fight for his first defence!
Far too big a risk at this stage as we would all love to see it. But more is definately up in weight so Macklin would have to move up. I think he should anyways as there are some good fights there for him.
last i heard macklin was fighting gevor next, then he got a busted nose and then boxrec had him down to fight some blown up light middle?
I just wonder if we will see Gevor v Golovkin for the reuglar WBA MW title now that talks have stopped with Mundine v Golovkin. Anyway back on topic....Kelly Green are you talking about a title shot at the IBF? Macklin needs to jump a few people in the line to fight Sylvester.....have they started talking yet?
Fat chance in hell that Gevor-Golovkin happens, unless Golovkin also wins his lawsuit against Universum. No way will Universum ever deal with him again after that fiasco though. Macklin's ranked #5 by WBA, #9 by WBC, #7 by WBO and #5 by IBF. As long as he keeps winning fights, he'll get his title shot against someone eventually. IBF is the biggest pain in the ass to become a mandatory in though, because they make you fight for the top 2 contender positions, and then the top 2 contenders need to fight to become the mandatory. If I were Macklin, I wouldn't worry too much about targeting a weak titlist. By the time he's anyone's mandatory, Sturm and Sylvester will have lost their belts anyway.
If macklin holds on to that EBU title he will have to fight decent opposition soon or be stripped..........
Geale beats Macklin so no way this happens in Oz, maybe in Britain cant see it though. Why do people keep mentioning a title shot for Macklin? how and why is this gonna happen? he should just fight Barker FFS
