Pavlik is reaching top of his potential while Jones is clearly past his best. But Jones is Jones and still have some serious tolls, and weight advantage. So who is more dangerous, especially for Calzaghe right now?

Pavlik, but it's hard to rate RJJ currently. Neither will have much chance vs Calzaghe as I see it.

50/50. Yeah, I'm gonna get it, but hey.

Pavlik is very good in his game but still very predictable. It's not a weakness as long as you can't make him pay or can't do the right thing enough (Taylor I-II). But Calzaghe is all about making the other guy pay for his mistakes, you just can't find another elite fighter made exactly for Joe. It doesn't necessarily make him the winner (see Cotto-Mosley), but IMO his style fits perfectly to make it a wide UD (close first half, one-sided second a'la Calzaghe-Kessler).

Jones is not the fighter once was, but the great reflexes are there and delivered the same kind of counter-shots out of nowhere in the Hanshaw and Tito fights. It's not really the opponent that matters but the signs that he still has it. Stamina, speed, power, it was good in the Tito fight and while Pavlik's style is as good as Joe can get, Jones' unpredictable, great counter-punching and great combination punching style is just as bad for Calzaghe. I predict a close UD victory for Joe with Jones giving him problems, maybe knocking him down via long right hand.

Please understand this: Pavlik is a great volume puncher, so delivering the Hopkins kind of cracking counter-shot is something not available in his arsenal. Jones' arsenal is full of the tricky shots Calzaghe can take before he adapts to an awkward style (Hopkins, Bika). Otherwise you just can't explain Calzaghe not going down from the Kessler, but going down from the Hopkins shot.

honestly i can see either taking out calzaghe..... he comes in swinging his arms like a mad man, and jones accuracy'll put him down...also pavliks power might take him out.... but ummm MORE dangerous?, i'm not sure how pavliks power at lightheavy would compare to Jones power

    Joe is totally overated.

The fact remains that in the last 4 years of so Kelly has fought 13 times and had 11KO victories.

Wheras rusty old Roy has had only 6 fights and has lost 3 of them, 2 by KO.

Kelly has beaten ring belt holders, edison miranda, outpointed Taylor too.

    Jones beat Prince Adjamu !

    PAvlik by far

THe Hopkins-Calzaghe fight went exactly as I thought it would. Hopkins lacked the speed and workrate to keep up with Calzaghe and no longer had the power needed to KO or hurt him. I see a Jones-Calzaghe matchup going down the same way. Yeah Jones may have a few tricks left but he no longer has the power to deliver enough damage using those tricks to change the direction of the fight.

PAvlik on the other hand has the power needed to hurt Calzaghe. He doesn't have the speed but does come close with the workrate. A fight with Pavlik is nowhere near so clean cut.

Kelly Pavlik because he is younger, a champion, and is still feeling hungry in the fact that he can still be something more than he is now. Plus, he has his sights on unifying the middleweight division like B-HOP did.

Pavlik. Go check the post about top ten from 160-175, every list had Pavlik at #2 or #3. Jones didn't make any list.

What a joke, Pavlik by a huge margin.
