Growing up, even kids that didn't watch boxing, didn't know who Tyson was, would come to know who Tyson was....and then they would watch his fights.

I think overall, Tyson is more well known by previous generations and even ones today. Ali is more respected.

 

I think some posters here misunderstood the question... I have the feeling that some answers to which was the biggest and best boxer.. There is no doubt that Ali was multiple leagues above Tyson...

I am definitely equal as sure that nowadays Tyson is the most recognizable name/face for that matter..

To say that an old man who don't care of boxing but knows Ali, it like when a totally music ignorant says he knows Michael Jackson... But here's a fact oldies are dying.. and knowledge regarding Ali is just not transfered to the younger generations, it not like he was the cause of ww2 or the first man on the moon..
