Wilder has great heart and determination and is delusional enough to believe that Fury's wins were based on luck or underhanded tactics. This makes him extremely mentally robust and provided he's not physically shot after two consecutive maulings in his mid-30's, he's still an extremely dangerous heavyweight. If/when he's healthy and has KO'd a stiff or two on the comeback, I'd favour him to beat AJ, Whyte and Ruiz. Physically AJ isn't as worn as Wilder but mentally I suspect he's a wreck. He doesn't have Wilder's psychological toughness or his capacity for delusion and he's being thrown back in with Usyk in 6 months. His defeats are arguably more humiliating as well; losing to the fattest and one of the smallest HW's an elite SHW champion has ever lost to, losing on his American debut and in his backyard in front of 70,000 fans and losing in decisive fashion, battered from pillar to post and comfortably outboxed, either quitting when the going got tough or refusing to put it all on the line and trying to get a robbery decision.
Wilder's got hands so glassy they'd make Hamed blush at this point. This puts Deontay in a proper catch-22 situation - if he punches his hardest, he's likely to break his hands again and if he doesn't he'll lose because power is all he's really got. The question is a bit of a joke to begin with, though, because whilst Joshua is in a very uncomfortable spot and might struggle to come back (he may be finished), Wilder never really got started - he fought one contender his whole career and was embarassing by an unfit version, battered by a fit one and battered again by an unfit one. Who's more finished at championship level? Joshua by default - Wilder was only ever a paper champion, a fraud.
Assuming Usyk beats the crap out of Joshua again...it's still Wilder who is more finished at this point. Reasons: 1. Wilder turned 36 a few days ago. A few days before that Joshua turned 32. The age gap is legit here. 2. Joshua is still a much bigger draw in the UK than Wilder is in the US. Joshua could still sell out a stadium in the UK against names like Fury, Joyce or Whyte. Saying that... ...i wouldn't be shocked if Eddie the Snake tries to sell Joshua out and looking for a Joshua vs. Wilder fight in the UK in 2023. It would be the last big fight for Wilder and Joshua at least has the chance to rebuild his name against a decent name. The thing with Joshua is...if he loses to Usyk i don't see guys like Joyce or Whyte showing interest in fighting him anytime soon. Whyte aiming Fury and Joyce wants Usyk. So Eddie might give him 1 or 2 easy tune up fights (Wilder will have them too) and i can see a Joshua vs. Wilder match in 2023. Wilder would get a nice last payday in his career. I doubt he'd turn that down.
My thought is that you should add Fury to that poll. He could easily bail before either of those two.
Wilder always going for the win and is always dangerous and will not quit.Joshua was a beaten man before he entered the ring with Usyk and looked relieved to go the distance. Joshua for a while now has also not looked interested in boxing .
Let take a wild guess... One has a dented skull X2 and believes he as poisoned. As well as a 6 months ban from the sport , because the dufus wanted to go out on his shield . The other is shopping for a miracle trainer to help him get his "dog" back .
Is that dog called "Clue" by any chance? At this point in time, it's the only way that individual is likely to have one.
I don't think that either guy is finished I would still favor both of them over any other heavyweight besides Fury and Usyk
Nah AJ destroys Whyte with the first clean right hand he lands also I think AJ is too quick for Joyce. I do agree that Wilder is tougher but AJ has underrated skills he won a few rounds off Usyk.
Neither is finished. Wilder is in the more trouble short and long term...short term because he is now effectively gone from the title picture, and long because he is 35 years old. BUT, a lot of the darkness from the trilogy fights is lifted. He somewhat redeemed himself with the tough performance in #3, and must now be able to admit to himself that he was beaten by a better fighter who actually believes in boxing as a science. He now had nothing to loose, and can forge ahead as he sees fit. Joshua is in more trouble mid term. He has another title fight coming up, and in the long run, he is the youngest of the big four, and will wear a belt again. But he is mentally where Wilder was after Fury II, and will probably lose to Usyk again. I see Wilder fighting on against low level competition for a few years ala Shannon Briggs until a last chance comes up, and Joshua losing to Usyk, disappearing for awhile, but coming back and winning title (probably not unified) in the future when Usyk and Fury are gone.
1-Did you hear Whyte's left hand? He puts bodybuilder to sleep if he can land his left. They are still 1-1. Whyte beat the crap out of green virgin pre-prime AJ and got beaten by prime AJ. AJ is past-prime atm. 2-Joyce is prime....ish atm despite his age. He can beat AJ. 3-He barely won 3 rounds against Usyk. All top 10 can win 3 rounds against Usyk.
