******* alert. first tszyu had a contract with showtime, meaning a fight between him and floyd was impossible to make. fair enough he didnt fight cotto or margarito for whatever reason. and paul williams ? i didnt see pacquiao fight williams either. funny how you discredit gatti, ortiz, baldomir but fail to mention pacquiao fighting the likes of david diaz, clottey, solis. its also funny how you mention mayweather made hatton and marquez do up in weight but you seem to forget pacquiao made marquez come up in weight and made oscar and cotto sweat down in weight. also you point out mosley was inactive for 16 months but mayweather only had 1 fight in 2 years. also funny mention an 'old mosley' then pacquiao should feel embrassed about ducking that old mosley in 2009. even freddie roach said didnt want to fight him then becuase he was too risky and "too good of a fighter"

I believe it is Floyds own work that underrates him.

After coming back from hiatus, he never challenged himself enough that was supposed to prove his worth yet he decides to play around with negotiations. Had he went out there and shut everyone up by winning then he certainly would've ranked higher. But no, and he remains lower than what his potential warrants.

On the other hand, Pac is severly overrated with his body of work that other skeptics tends to underrate him as a result.

Here's where the complication lies, they underrate his wins as catchweights, never mind that he was always the smaller guy who gave away height, reach and size everytime he stepped on the ring as a welterweight.

Pacquiao is very overrated. The 3rd Marquez fight showed us this. Arum and his dirty business procedures make the casual fan believe Pac is that good. Just 2 reasons why Pac is overrated.

Floyd is underrated-his skills are extremely underrated. His footwork is levels above any fighter today as is his ability to place punches on his opponent. The media monster (ESPN) does not give him due credit, nor do a lot of the casual fans. If ESPN would show more "truth" to Floyd's talent, he would get a lot more credit...maybe not "due credit" but a lot more credit still.

Its much easier to overrate Floyd because he's so talented, but Manny Pacquiao is the one who's overrated imo.

Truth is that they are both great fighters, Mayweather IMO a little better do to his versatility. Both are great though and top 50 ATG in most lists. People like to look at their records and look for things to discredit them but that can be done with any fighter in boxing history not just these 2

Each fighter gets over and underrated depending on how they've looked in their last fights and whose looking at fault in the most recent negotiations.

Manny didn't lose to Marquez because he's bad, but because Juan Manuel is that good. He's overrated by some, and underrated by others, just as Floyd is.

Mayweather is probably the most complete fighter in the game today, but his footwork is not "levels" beyond most fighters. Marquez and Hopkins both have better lateral movement and are more dynamic punching on the move.
