They're both skilled fighters but I'd have to say Rigo and the Cuban background. He's bad and he seems to have a better sense of boxing physics than Broner has. Both are highly skilled but I lean more towards Rigo.
I strongly disagree with that assessment of Jones that people often put forth. There's a difference between not knowing the rules, and knowing the rules but knowing how to break them to your advantage. I think any fighter would have fallen as badly as RJJ did had their physical advantages been zapped as quickly. To answer the OP's question, Rigondeaux is more skilled.
I think rigo is the most skilled boxer i ever see.. Take a look at his amateur fights.. He just played with opponents..and back in Cuba he was alredy seen as a very skilled boxer..and agains very tough oppositi( like gamboa, Franco) this guy gonna be a pro legend.. I been waiting for him to adapt and take over the..i ll like so much that donaire, nishioka, mares or Moreno ll give him a fight so he could show to incredulous why he dont lose..he just know how to win..in the ams or in the pros..he is the definition of boxing skills
Broner won't get caught by that kind of punch.. :deal 10 professional fights, and he's more skilled? atsch That's idiocy, ******! :hey After being knocked down by Cordoba, he decided to run for the rest of the rounds left.. :deal Shows you his character.. He abandoned his boxing skill, which means the man himself doesn't really believe that his boxing skill is sufficient enough to win the fight convincingly.. He almost lost it against Cordoba who is not on top level of competition.. :deal
Donaire has a loss on his 2nd fight and SD against an unknown Thai and against Vasquez jr who smashed his face with that jab....want to bring the past? Ok:yep
No vic, I don't think it's close either. Pretty ridiculous that some people even think Broner is more skilled if you ask me.
Rigo is the daddy when it comes to being more skilled. Broner has youth athleticism on his side, something time & age takes it's toll on, but Rigo has experience something again only time gives you and with him being more skilled and with more experience, Rigo has this one wrapped.
I wanted to make a thread on this but found this one... so imma necro it.... Based on Rigo's performance vs Donaire... how would he fair vs Broner at 130?
So there are posts in this thread saying Roy Jones relied on pure athleticism and wasn't highly skilled. Let's go ahead and stop that right now. Forever. Just ****ing stop. And Rigo by a lot.
Superior Athletic gifts like what? He isn't faster, or quicker, and if Rigondeaux fought the equivalent of stiffs, and bums at 122, he would have a 100% KO record.
I'm enjoying all these old bumps of Rigo threads. So many people looking foolish just because they don't respect (or ignore) the amateur game.
