Who Is More Skilled Whitaker or Duran?

No he doesn't Pea Whitaker is a horrible matchup for Duran. Only a fool who doesn't know the sport would think otherwise.:deal

 

I've never looked into this C but did Duran have any sort of amateur career? Remember Pea has been fighting since he was about 8, if you factor that at all.

 

A very brief one, though he was supposedly training and sparring at a very young age, much like Whitaker (he did turn pro at 16, so he had to have been pretty young for any of that).

Duran also packed in 30 or so more fights than Whitaker during their first 13-14 years as professionals. Whitaker was a few years older during his real fall from grace though. Anyway, I think it's safe to say each guy started to really slide when they hit a certain, similar point in their careers.

 

A Prime 220 lb Marquez.

A Memo trained 220 lb Marquez still loses to a 140lb Floyd by UD though.

When you look at everything he accomplished in such a short run, it is pretty damn crazy. Set out to prove himself the undisputed best and did just that.

Truth is, Duran was one of the most skilled fighters to lace up the gloves. Both Duran and Whitaker where incredibly skilled in their own fashions.
