Can only speak for Sydney based. George Reno and Mark Pitts deserve a mention. Good trainers are few and far between here in Oz. All the ex fighters with alot knowledge seem to distance themselves from the sport a shame because think of some if the great fighters over the last 30 years who would be great teachers.
i like shaw and pitts there lead up work is good and game day they don't confuse there fighters in the corner. They give them simple instructions.some trainers like the sound of there own voice and the cameras and give heap of instructions and confuse there fighters.fighters need it kept simple in the corner. Not to much sinks in when there been punching on for three minute rounds.
TC you must not know anything a out boxing if u think that... I too don't like the antics but please billy is a good coach mate
He would have to be the most over rated trainer in this country, many many great boxers have left this guys camp never to return because he is a idiot when it comes to actual hands on training, everything this guy knows he picked up from being hired as a team fenech padwork boy and we all know how much of a great trainer fenech wasnt lol Could go on and on but most know this guys not a great trainer, all he is good at is padding records and getting blokes he trains easy fights.
Gary Shaw, Lincoln Hudson, Craig Christian, Steve Deller, Billy Hussein, Chris McCullen, there are a fair few good trainers in Aus. There the best group in my opinion.
TC fair enough I only look in from fight nights I've seen him in the corner during watching sparring... Graham shaw #1 Craig cristain #2
Half of the above mentioned trainers get fighters when they are already made and then just trim the edges of the already made fighter. I'll name some good trainers from Victoria that actually create a fighter from scratch such as Kel Bryant, Brian Butler, Gerry Murphy and the list goes on. Its easy to work with something when there's a base to work with that somebody else created.
