but again, who (outside of nottingham) is actually overrating froch? and MOST bute fans are very polite and respectful and don't nuthug him calzaghe style. i think it's pretty good on the forum. (now the bute HATE is another story...)

I am not saying that either are completely overblown hype jobs like some get to be, but I do think that both guys are overrated to some degree.

When I hear those guys being mentioned as "elite" and things like that, well that's when it bothers me.

Froch thinks entirely too much of himself when he really is not that good. As I said, if JT could really fight 12 rounds then he would have been KO'd. Lucky for him JT crumbled in the 12th mostly out of exhaustion.

Bute is a more likeable fellow, but I think his skills are a bit overrated. His true loss against Andrade made me dislike him a little bit because it was an injustice.

Bute's 0 should already be gone. Andrade knocked his ass out and he was saved cuz he was at home.

I think Bute is more skilled than Froch but i feel Froch would beat Bute.

Why do you write foolish crap like that. Did you watch the Froch JT fight? Taylor was getting broken down by Froch landing punches and not merely from just walking around the ring and getting tired.

I don't think neither fighter is overrated....

I think your assestment of Bute is fairly inaccurate... He's 6'2.... fast hands, throws crisp combinations, and is a GOOD body puncher... Bute has pretty good power.. Define very solid fighter...... To me, Lucian beats just about everyone at 168..... And if Abraham moves up to 168 and fights Lucian, Bute wins a easy decision... Bute's size and skills makes him a hard matchup for anyone... He outclassed Andrade through most of the fight, dropped him, and barely survived at the end.... But this is Librado we're talking about... Didn't Yusuf Mack (who's now a top 10 fighter at Light Heavyweight) have the same problem~?? Bute isn't far from being #1 at 168..

How many fighters mouth off? Fair play to Froch for taking JT in the US and wanting to fight the other big names in the division.
And the Pascal is a bum argument is shot too!

I do not think Bute is bad, but I do not think he is a world beater. Now I admit the 168lb division is quite weak right now, so that plays into it.

IMO, Andrade beat Bute. I think Andrade would beat Froch too. I also think Kessler would beat both Bute and Froch. As a longer shot, I might give Direll a good chance to beat both those guys and if Ward hagns tough like he did against Miranda then I may even pick Ward to beat at least Froch, but maybe even Bute.

Then you have to figure in some of the old semi-retired fighters like RJJ and Tito. If they were in half good shape, again a major threat for Bute and Froch. I definitely agree that Bute is better than Froch. Froch has not shown me much yet other than some toughness. If JT had stamina, Froch would be over with. BHop would also beat both of them easily and I am not a BH fan.

You lost me there. I'd struggle to name three stronger weight classes. This is probably the best the weight class has been since Nigel Benn was fighting at SMW.

There may not be any top 20 P4P fighters, but that's mostly due to not enough of the top guys fighting each other. There are a few who have P4P talent.

Neither Roy nor Tito would have a chance in hell of beating Bute or Froch (unless they just look a lot more lethargic at 168), and this is coming from someone who doesn't think much of Froch.

The history of 168 is actually quite amazing. The first SMW champion was Murray Sutherland. He won the newly created IBF title on July 22, 1984, and lost it on the 1st or 2nd defense. Sutherland lost to the top guys at 160 and 175, but he freaking fought damn near everybody around in those days. So, we've seen SMW go from a division where a damn good journeyman could win a title, to becoming one of the strongest divisions in the sport.

Right the depth for 168 is outstanding...I think most people talk out their dickholes on the division because it's not the glamour spot like 160 or 175. Personally sometimes I wish 168 was dissolved so that the two money divisions would get it's talents.

Neither should be mentioned as great champions but Froch has a more pleasing style than the boring Bute.
