I can see winning the 1st round as having meaning in a tie breaker, but ultimately winning in the first would have to be the most important criteria would it not?

Yes but we're not talking about a "real fight", but a cage fight. So there is no group environment and no worries about being on the ground.

And there is nothing for you to apologize for anyway, it's an internet forum FFS. It's not mandatory to fly off the handle and start with the personal insults and temper tantrums as soon as somebody types an opinion that isn't exactly identical to yours. :good

I mean if the contest was scheduled for 1 five minute round. No worry about having to pace yourself, nothing except full-on fighting the man in front of you. You win this one round or else you lose the fight. Which fighters would be toughest to beat under this condition. :good

Forgive me for trying to justify your thread. I gave your thread some meaning. You just officially made it stupid.

Why would we give a **** about how good someone is in the first round if it doesn't pertain to winning a fight? Are you going to have a who is better at winning a decision thread following this one?

Hey, who is the best at winning the 2nd round and goes on to lose the fight? Nobody gives a ****.

Serra v GSP for the shock value, certainly the most unexpected, Gabe v Mirko as well

I'd like to pose a question. In hindsight, which is the bigger upset? Werdum vs Fedor, Silva vs Fedor, or Henderson vs Fedor?

Is this subforum nothing but dickheads?

Can we talk about nothing here except PEDs and injuries and UFC/Pride sucks and everyone who I disagree with about anything is a moron? :patsch

This is a topic made because I am bored and this is a discussion forum. Understand? If you think it's stupid........... stay. the. ****. out. of. it. you. ****ing. ******. :-(

Now EVERY fight fan knows that some guys may be top-level fighters, but not every fighter works at the same pace.

For example, Mike Tyson was as dangerous in the first couple of rounds as anyone in history. But he NEVER ONCE stopped anybody past the seventh round. If you made it to round 8 against him, you would hear the final bell. On the other hand, David Tua has several late-round KOs. He was bad news for tired fighters.

In boxing, the change from 15 round title fights to 12 rounders made SOME fighters less effective, becuase they did their best work in the championship rounds. The same fighter was now a less dangerous opponent. Understand?

Now, try to follow. This is a DISCUSSION forum. And I am bored, so I ask a question for others to DISCUSS.

The question is - in a 5 minute fight, who is significantly harder to beat than he is in a 25 minute fight. It's a THEORETICAL question, designed to solicit OPINIONS. Just so people can kill time by having a discussion. :patsch

Does that mean we'll ever see 5 minute fights? No, of course not. Nor would we want to. But at least it's something to talk about that isn't "Fighter X is injured, out of Event Y" or "scurla thinks he's an expert insider rather than an irrelevant fanboy" or "Stoo posts a laughing face and a one-line insult and thinks he's a worthwhile contributer to the board." :bart

Obviously not the biggest, but the Korean Zombie finishing Hominick in under 10 seconds who'd been 5 rounds with Aldo was a shock to say the least

Gotta be Werdum, we were in the period of Fedor by anything he wants.
