Eddie Hearn says the contract will be signed within 72 hours. SO at this point they aren't even considering Wilder. this fight is gonna be insane. Povetkin has been waiting for this moment since 2013.. He has been on a long road of recuperation after his UD loss to Klitschko, who used illegal clinch and hold tactics the entire fight. I believe today he is smarter in the ring, better footwork, better combos, stronger and more determined to win than ever. I believe he will do much better than Parker, and he will definitely check AJ's chin once or twice.

I believe Povetkin is very dangerous for 4 rounds.

It could be worse and obviously it could be better, it is what it is, a mandatory defence against a former world champion who has never been stopped and beaten only once on points.

But because it isn't Wilder it will be dumped on, I can understand that and I want to see Joshua Vs Wilder just like everybody else but that fight aside this isn't that terrible.

One of the best fight to be made in the HW division, even with Povetkin being past it. :ggg
Can you imagine if they somehow made Joshua vs Fury happen? That would have been a massacre of the highest order.

At the moment my disappointment over Joshua/Wilder not being made is overcoming any excitement I have for Povetkin.

But I'm sure once the fight gets closer and the build up begins I'll be stoked for Joshua/Povetkin. Povetkin isn't the same fighter he once was but in all honestly I still think he's the best possible opponent right now not called Wilder.

Povetkin will always have a punchers chance and with the current beef between the UK and Russia at the moment I'm sure this fight will sell well and will appeal to the casuals.

I am, Povetkin is the most complete fighter at heavyweight, the only problem is that it' happening 2/3 years to late.

    Povetkin can still win.

Would of preferred Wilder v AJ, but seen as team AJ keep moving the goalposts we'll have to wait a little bit longer.

STOP DUCKING THE HUMAN WINDMILL AJ/HEARN.

Excellent match up, Povetkin is a very good fighter. Wilder wouldn`t sign so team AJ move on, more fool him.

Another solid name for AJs resume. No disrespect to Povetkin, he has been an excellent fighter and a custodian of world amateur and professional boxing for a very long time. But at 38, he's well past his best and this is more of a retirement payday for Povetkin than anything. He'll be competitive for the first few before AJ puts him away in the mid rounds. Unless he figures out how to fight off the backfoot, Povetkin's style is made for AJ.

I am. It's one of the best fights that could be made.

Unfortunately it's happening just a bit too late. Povetkin is just too old as this point.

Should still be a good fight. And I'm glad Povetkin is getting this last opportunity before retirement.

Ofcourse im looking forward to it. I like Boxing. All the signs say the advantages are mostly in Joshuas favour, age, size, location probably which means there is less chance Povetkin is drugged up but he is suseptable to a few of the things Povetkin does very very well. I can see Joshua playing it safe again like he did against Parker, not as safe as Wilder played it againt Povetkin though obviously.

I think Povetkin in UK will be absolutely steamrolled by AJ. There wont be any inside fighting. It will be Joshua pot shotting Povetkin from the outside all night long.
