This content is protected I slightly remember this being a thread before. But can't remember if it was resolved. Does anyone know who he is talking about?
By the way, interesting that the main trainer for Floyd Mayweather, modern P4P legend, and his uncle, says that Louis and Robinson were the best boxers ever. Guess he didn't get the memo that their pre-Liston jabs were pistonless "slaps", rather than crisp sharp punches. Does he not realize how much the sport has evolved? I guess not... /s
Sure but as far as I know Robinson had Gainford and Louis had Blackburn and Seeman. Im not aware of any crossover.
Yeah, me neither. Maybe there was someone else? Although another predominant trainer in the mix doesn't seem highly likely.
Yeah, I've heard Roger say SRR is the greatest ever. He respects the hell out of him (as just about any boxing historian does, for obvious reason). He also tries to claim Robinson as a Midwest fighter, but Ray was born in the South and learned to box when in Harlem. He just spent a few years in childhood in Detroit.
Great call Juppity!! It seems that Wiley was also in Alis corner for the Ellis fight, since Dundee was with Jimmy. Ali kept Wiley in his corner after that fight, until he died in 72. http://www.saddoboxing.com/16987-harry-wiley.html I wonder how Roger knows about him, to rate him the best of all time.
Probably why Floyd Jr. had Roger silently carrying the towels and the spit bucket in the corner once he reconciled with his dad and made him head trainer again.
