Yup ,a good gouging of the eye tends to make a person quickly lose interest in inflicting pain on you.

That is not a bad rule, but it is a hard one to learn.

A judge can't kick you in the head, while you are lying on the ground.

I could see a small city’s worth of people lining up to punch him.

No kidding. I copped a couple kicks to the head while I was once dealing with said kicker’s (very deserving) mate. How deserving was he? I decided to ignore the kicks & keep my focus on the POS underneath me, because I knew help for what was above wouldn’t be far away. But I had a couple of days afterward of very bad neck pain. Fortunately, nothing worse, but it’s a risk alright.

I do think that Holmes is the sleeping giant in this case. Spent a long time wrestling, playing football, and is also a strong and quick stand up fighter who is already in contention for the status of heavyweight GOAT to begin with. Then you give him the opportunity to thumb, wrestle, kick, and do just about anything else needed to win, and I see no reason why Larry ISN'T the man to pick.

James J Jeffries, very strong, wrestling, unlimited stamina, chin of granite and he had a style that was formed before him in the bare knuckle era.

Yes, given the choice of an adversary grabbing either my nuts or my wrists, squeezing and yanking for all they're worth, I know which one I'd chose, and it wouldn't be my nuts.

Correct. Real world no rules the person that wins is the one who acts most decisively, acts the quickest and is prepared to do the most. Biting and gouging scares the shite out of ordinary people.
