Kicks in the nuts would be horrific. I've had cricket balls hit me hard in the box and even with the shield it's terrible. I put down an opening bat for quite a few minutes and i was medium pace swing. I knew the guy and he loved the sledge so i couldn't resist the age old classic "i hope you've already had kids, James".

I didn't have a lot of street fights (saw a lot) but one in the pub this guy charged me and led with a kick that hit my inside right thigh. It did nothing for him with adrenaline pumping and such. The next week i had a decent bruise for days and certainly knew i'd been kicked. I was telling a good mate about and he informed me that just a couple of weeks earlier the same guy had connected a bloke with a kick in the stones straight up in a fight and it was all over, he belted the crap out of him as he couldn't recover. So it all became crystal clear. That's the thing, if you get connected with something like that it's over. If he was a handful of inches more accurate he would have smashed me. The nuts and the eyes would be the weakest spots for mine. Kicking the nuts is obviously a shockingly dirty thing to do but some do play it that way.

It’s not as irrecoverable a position as you would think. The fight can still be won. You certainly don’t want to find out, though!

I didn't see it but i fully believe it. A guy from work, big mean strong guy that did some sort of martial arts actually gouged a guys eye out in a brawl in the mall here. The mall is close to the nightclubs and there's plenty of biffo there. The eye wasn't torn clean out, it was sitting on his cheek. He walked away and never heard a thing about it, nothing in the papers. I got on ok with this guy but he had a terrible mean side and didn't need much of an invitation to let it loose. One of my best mates had a go in with him in the work lunch room with about 30 people in there eating. The mate could swing them pretty good. They grabbed each others shirt and he picked the mate up and smashed him into the hard floor sideways and that was all she wrote. It was the sort of impact you weren't jumping up from in a hurry.

Another boilermaker at work, he was friends with this guy and a highly respected bouncer. He was both great with talking people down and extremely capable if he had to fight. He told me at work (at the time he was bouncing for the biggest nightclub in town) that one night in his rounds he comes across this unconscious guy on the floor. He had no idea if he'd been hit or collapsed. Further along he see's another guy on the deck out to it. He said he basically followed the bodies on the floor (there was a third) until he came to his old mate from work LOL.

Suffice to say he packed a fair punch among all the other dirty tricks but he was pretty dark inside too which is another sizable factor.

To make a long story longer i had the same experience. The mate and i were in a popular hotel that had a great beer garden out the back. As we headed out there was a guy out to it on the floor. As we went thru the beer garden there were two more guys down. All three were completely and utterly unconscious. There was no sign of commotion but it must have been 30 seconds or so in front of us. He must have been ko'ing these guys with one punch as there were no bouncers running around or screaming. I said to the mate just stay where we are and look out as someone is king hitting people and man he must be dangerous

Either he jumped the back fence and left of the first guy we come across was the last victim as he went from the beer garden back into the pub and out the front door. Glad we didn't encounter him LOL

I've seen people not able to stand after a serious hit to the groin. I'm not trying to argue but if you can't stand you can't win. Some just go into the fetal position holding their stones and can't even reach out. I could imagine maybe a grazing connection being overcome but full on? Oh man.

I mean to say earlier i have known three guys at least that all lost a nut to a cricket ball. I do remember two didn't have a box/protector on, may have been all three.

I guess we have some examples of a lesser kind, in boxing. Despite his alleged shocking injuries Ken Buchanan had a protective cup. As bad as he was imagine the effect without it? Usyk recently seemed to be in a pretty bad spot...and again that's with a protector.

If Usyk's nuts are where he was hit, he really does need to see a Doctor...

Great stories JT. Good to know that you yourself came out unscathed through all that. Like walking through a minefield and stepping over the strewn bodies that came before you.

You’d have to swallow the person up on the floor. Get on top & ride it out. Not impossible, but not great odds, to put it mildly.
