Hopkins - TITO, DLH, Tarver, Wright, Pavlik ----vs. Floyd - Corrales, Hernadez, Castillo, Hatton, DLH Risk Taker vs. Cherry Picker...so yeah, i'd say it's clearly B-hop, beat the better fighters and simply took more risks....
He "represents" Yahoo Sports no more than some Writer who get's posted on the front page of this website represents ESB. And also, he thinks that Calzaghe rates higher than Hopkins - so he is clearly an ignoramus. Cheers.
BErnard Hopkins best wins all came against guys coming up in weight. From Winky Wright to Kelly Pavlik, all came up in weight. He even managed to lose to Jermaine Taylor, quite an average fighter along the way. Its clearly Mayweather as the number 2. Until he whips Pacs ass and cements himself as the best fighter since a prime Roy Jones Jr.
Oh how fickle we are. Bernard Hopkins was an underdog against Tito Trinidad, who decimated William Joppy up at 160lbs. Nothing was wrong with Tito, but Hopkins schooled him accordingly. Likewise, Kelly Pavlik and Antonio Tarver were both supposed to knock Hopkins out, with Tarver being the natural Light Heavyweight of the two. Hopkins thoroughly spanked both of them too, winning practically all of the rounds. Hopkins has a superior resume to Mayweather Jr, and he took on all comers including Roy Jones Jr and Jermain Taylor, who was undefeated at the time. He's a better fighter than Floyd, and is thoroughly deserving of a 2nd place finish. Floyd needs to stop doing interviews, get back in the gym, and fight the best fighters in his division, which Hopkins has done for a decade.
Yawn. Addie, el capillo, popkins, whatever you call yourself. Hopkins does not have a better resume then Floyd. Floyd beat Corrales, Castillo, DLH, ect ect while coming up in weight. Hopkins meanwhile picked off a bunch of welters and a middleweight who was virtually a walking punchign bag at 170. And please, he got dominated by ROy Jones jr. wasnt even in the same class when they fought. Jermaine Taylor is average, couldnt beat Cory Spinks clearly and he Ud'd Hopkins. If Hopkins takes on all comers, why hasnt he signed a fight with Bad Chad yet? WHy is he fighting a journeymen so he can rematch a shot roy jones jr for a paper cruiserweight strap? Sorry, Hopkins knows he cant hack it against active fighters with movement. As to why he lost to Taylor. Floyd has beat better comp, looked more impressive, and done it as the smaller man each and every time. Nobody is ever gonna list Hopkins as the 2nd best fighter this decade. After Floyd whips Pac, his name will be an after thought.
In the event Floyd goes and actually proves what he says, and he very rarely does it, then he might be the second best of the decade. That's to say, he beats Manny Pacquiao. Until then, I won't listen to his hideous propaganda all day, I'll patiently wait for him to fight the best in division and then, and only then, will he get the credit that you think he deserves. As things stand, he is not been proven to be the second best of the decade, even if Trinidad, Pavlik, Tarver, Oscar and Winky all magically became B level opposition over night.
Felix Sturm beat Oscar. Trinidads best win at 160 is William Joppy. Winky looked sluggish at that weight and got dismantled by Williams. Pavlik I sorta rate evne though he was coming up, because even I picked Pavlik to win that one. And it looks like Hopkins beat him into alcoholism. But other then that, unless he beats Dawson, he has not accomplished what Mayweather has. Mayweather beat the 3 best fighters in 5 of the divisions he won belts in. If Hopkins beats Dawson, Adamek, then Haye. He's on Floyds level. And are you actually saying even if Floyd beats Pacquiao, he's only second best? Wow.
this is fighter of the decade right not the last not the last four years if tht is infact the case then its floyd hands down say what you want about him but he beat dlh up at 154 (and he did beat him dont bother with that ****) zab judah an undefeated ricky hatton (ok it was at 147 but still wooped his ass) dieago corrales R.I.P baldomir castillo chavez gatti (i metion becoz it happend not that it ever should have) ok so manny may have simmalr or even better acomplishments but for me some of his better wins are tainted
Oh dear. Winky had a two year lay off, that'll be why he got dismantled by Williams. :verysad It's funny how you have complete disregard for the age of Bernard Hopkins when he dazzled all of these p4p rated fighters. Hopkins best wins - Trinidad, Pavlik, Wright, Tarver Mayweather's best wins - Corrales, Hatton, Oscar, Castillo I felt Castillo beat Floyd in their first fight, and I never considered Hatton a great Welterweight after his horrendous showing against Collazo. For a guy who wants to be considered the best of the decade, that's a poorly lacking resume. Hell yes. Irrespective of what happens when those two fight, Manny Pacquiao still beat better opposition and achieved more in moving through the divisions. Floyd can only do as good as 2nd, unless he starts stepping up to the plate. Too late for him now, though.
You serious? That's one of the worst lists I've ever seen. Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales both defeated greater fighters than Joe Calzaghe and Juan Manuel Marquez have managed to beat. Horrible list.
