When Holmes faced Tyson in 1988 - he was ring rusty and out of shape , Evander faced a much better and sharper version in 1992 .

Holmes of 78 - 82 would sharp shoot Tysons head off.

Thats a very strong top 20, could argue with a lot of the placings but thats a damn fine list all the same .

    Marciano

He beat Charles,Walcott, (Two ATG fighters, knocked charles out twice)

Also won against Archie Moore, great win regardless of the fact that the ol mongoose had to move up in weight, thats another ATG

The likes of Dempsey & Marciano would be too small to beat many modern day heavyweights, Johnson wouldn't have a size difference nowadays.
Older fighters may have good resumes but boxing has improved.

I picked Tyson. Just on his great prime, but it was a short prime. But he was dominant.

Lewis is if you go by accomplishments ,people have different criteria so unless you put reasons why its just subjective.

If you go by history then Dempsey and Johnson.

If you go by popularity, Mike Tyson also was youngest HW champion.

When you balance all this out it should look like...

    1. Ali
    2.Louis
    3. Wlad Klitschko
    4. Lewis ( I have to move him down considering he ducked a Vitali rematch most ATG's don't do that when leaving the sport )
    5. Mike Tyson

Somewhere along with guys at those spots or comparable to.

Impact in and on boxing has to be number one when considering ATG status as well as outside .

lewis or holmes, I'd pick holmes for sheer staying power if not greater h2h ability.

with holmes head on his shoulders, tyson would have been number 1, yet as it stands tysons not really a strong case for top ten atg, if that means anything.

    1. Lewis
    2. Ali
    3. Holmes
    4. Wlad
    5. Foreman

then after that throw in a mixture of Vitali, Frazier, Tyson

Tried to balance legacy with H2H (actual and hypothetical).

On a side note, gotta laugh at the Marciano references. Yeah, great legacy, but H2H he'd have no chance against the big guys.

The guy would be boiled down to Supermiddleweight today.

Marciano is No.1 Best Heavyweight of All Time. Many of his opponents were bigger and taller than him but he beat them all. The second is Ali and the third is Lewis.
