Appeal to authority is only a logical fallacy if the authority isn't an authority on the subject his or her opinion is being relied on, i.e. Jon Voight said Donald Trump is the greatest president in history. Jon Voight is not an authority on the presidency. If Voight said Gene Hackman is the greatest character actor that would carry weight because he has expertise in that field beyond that of the average layman.

Ali, Louis, Lewis, Wlad, Tyson, Holmes, Marciano, Frazier, Holyfield, Usyk, Vitali, Fury…that’s top 15 and if you put in Wills, Johnson, and Dempsey, he becomes top 20.

Mostly i’m putting Foreman 3rd (ish) because of his ability to destroy the smaller pressure fighters, and I think he’d have enough boxing ability to beat all of the super heavies of this day. Him and Holmes would be an interesting one.
Also, nobody else on that list has a hope coming back in their 40’s to do what Foreman did, that has to count for a lot.

Yeah and Foreman hasn’t got a hope fighting into his late 30s - 40s without taking a decade off because he got owned by Uncle Jimmy Young. It doesn’t count for much, not as much as it does when your wins are Stewart, Moorer and Old Cooney lol.

George in his prime would ko Wlad, Holy, Rocky, Johnson, Wills and Fury. We saw what he did to Joe. The rest can be interesting

Jimmy young was a good boxer, he’d beat all of your super heavy friends of today, and maybe Usyk too.
I know you can’t comprehend that Usyk cannot be superman, I mean he has to be that good to beat Anthony hip hip Joshua.

With George you have to take his whole career , not just the pre - Ali wrecking machine. So he loses to Young so what?
Louis lost to Schmeling, Ali lost to Norton, Wlad lost to Sanders, Lewis lost to McCall. So what ?

It’s a fine list, I’d have Wlad and Usyk just outside and Foreman a bit higher. Apart from Wlad and Usyk it’s not that much different to mine

I voted for Larry - he's been my #3 for some time. But I've read, on other threads, some quite sound arguments for Lewis. So, I wouldn't argue too hard against that pick, either.

I think Tyson, Louis and Wlad all KO Usyk… I also think he beats Ali, Lewis, Holmes and Holyfield… again I have a varied opinion, I don’t favour modern fighters at all, I think Louis, Tyson, Lewis, Wlad, and Holyfield do extremely well today, I think Ali suffers, Holmes too and Bowe because of there styles. - of all the guys I picked to do so well I’d be unsurprised to see Louis and Holyfield look extremely mortal regularly and be far away from there original levels of domination, in a one off it’s possible Holyfield beats Joshua, I think he’d wreck him but to fight 250+lbs guys with 3-5 inches of height on your regularly takes a toll, a miscalculation, a bad night etc and the year he beats the breaks off Parker he gets chop shopped by Ortiz etc.

I just can’t put Foreman higher, his best win is 5ft10 and overweight, drinking heavily at the time and didn’t look overly impressive getting rid of Standers and Daniel’s… then who is it Norton? Lyle? I prefer long reigning champs / guys who clear a division just my 0.2$.

Ignoring the Foreman haters who are quite honestly just embarrassing themselves, it's Wlad or Holmes for me.
